A co-worker shared Browned Butter Brown Sugar cookies today (yum, by the way) and in looking up the recipe I came across this.
“As a matter of fact, if I had to limit myself to a single kind of cookie for the for the remainder of my life, these brown sugar treasures would be my choice.”
It’s remarkably hard for me to choose just one, but I would have to go with Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies* because they were a favorite my mother made at Christmas, and mine taste like hers.
*flour, brown sugar and butter crust, whole pecans placed in the crust, layer of caramel, bake and then scatter semi-sweet chips over the top, let them melt some, and swirl them carefully around.
So Dopers, what cookie would it be for you? Drop, bars, shaped, it’s all good, but pick just one as your final choice!
The perfect oatmeal cookie - crunchy on the outside, moist and chewy in the middle. Made with more oats than flour, maybe even no flour at all. Saturated with butter and brown sugar, kissed with a hint of cinnamon and maybe nutmeg. Raisins and/or nuts are fine but not necessary.
The Girl Scouts’ “Samoas” are mighty nice. Same with their mint-sandwich cookies (don’t remember the name.) Either would be just fine for the rest of my life.
As much as I enjoy different cookies at different times (snickerdoodles, buttery buttery shortbread, maple brown sugar, almond, thin mint, double chocolate brownie), if I have to pick one forever, it would have to be chocolate chip with dark chocolate chips.
My grandmother made a thin, crispy cookie with whole peanuts in it called… wait for it… peanut crisps. I do not have her recipe, and would give anything to. So that would be the one cookie for me.
