The ones that if you sit with a bag/box you might accidentally eat the whole thing.
Mine are Mother’s Iced Animal crackers.

Safeway brand lemon flavored Oreo-like cookies. Lots of them for not much money. I know Pepperidge Farm cookies are theoretically better, but give me the Safeway ones any time.
Keebler Cinnamon Sandies were pretty good also, but they got discontinued, like most of the stuff I like.
Used to be Burry’s Gaucho cookies. And it would be no accident. The Girl Scouts have a version that’s identical, but $35 for a box of 8 is cra-cra!
Double Stuff E.L. Fudge, these ones.
I have to limit myself to 4 or 5 (or 6 or 7), at a time. That way I at least have to get back up if I want more.
I recently had the Grasshoppers (Keebler also, I think) that were very similar to Thin Mints.
But those EL Fudge cookies. I always have a few packs of them at home. That’s one of those things I’d consider stopping on a non-shopping day, to run in and get them if I ran out during the week.
Ginger snaps – not for always, but every so often the ginger, molasses chewy crunch just hits the spot. Also, I have to give an honorable mention to fig newtons. Lately, I’ve been liking Aussie Bites from Costco. They’re just wholesome enough and not too sweet, so I can fool myself that I’m not eating a cookie for breakfast.
If Girl Scout cookies count as “store-bought”, then Thin Mints. Otherwise, original Oreos (accept no substitutes).
Lornadunes are my favorite shortbread. I don’t have vast experience, but prefer them to the European imports I’ve tried, as well as Panera’s shortbread, Girl Scout shortbread, and Sandies. So, they’ve earned my respect.
But is shortbread my favorite cookie type? No, there are homemade cookies I like better — peanut butter, chocolate chip, those things with white chocolate and macademia nuts. Still, for store-bought I’ll stay with Lornas.
Hands down Ententann’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. So soft and delicious.
If it counts as a cookie I would also pick Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. Love them.
National brand: Pepperidge Farm Tahoe White Chocolate & Macadamia
Local brand: Dudley’s Bakery Ginger & Molasses Fruit Bars
Those damn chocolate covered mint flavored Oreos. I have to stay right clear of the cookie aisle in the market because of the pull they exert on me.
Close second: Tim Tams. My beloved late Australian husband got me hooked on those and Arnott’s sells them in the USA at World Market under a different name that I can’t recall offhand. For that reason, I keep my trips to World Market infrequent.
I could do with some Nilla Wafers.
Kroger’s Private Selection brown butter cookies are quite yummy.
About 15 years ago, when I lived in NJ, I bought some Archway oatmeal pecan cookies. They were delicious. But I haven’t been able to find them again. Maybe I imagined the whole thing.
Freihofer’s has them beat.
Others favorites include Le Petit Ecolier and Pepperidge Farm Geneva,
Ginger snaps are an example of a cookie I really like, but don’t love, so I buy them because there is no danger of eating the whole bag at once.
Yeah, baby. Thin mints. I keep them in the freezer–delish!
I’ve heard of them, but haven’t tried them. There’s a World Market not too far from me… :dubious:
Garibaldi Biscuits–aka Raisin Cookies.
You know those horror films where someone is cautiously creeping down the stairs to the basement or climbing the stairs to the attic while the spooky music builds to a crescendo, and you’re screaming at the television, “Don’t do it!! DON’T DO IT!!!”
Me to you, girl.
Several stores have the same cookie, but yes, I can eat those a lot.
Fig Newtons, eaten by the fistful.
Vanilla Oreos.
Ok. Now I really want to try them.
You were warned.
Oh yes, love the Thin Mints. They are actually the best selling cookie in the US.
1976-1977 I was stationed in South Korea. My mother sent me care packages. It was an unwritten rule that goodies were shared. Once she sent me, amongst the other stuff, a box of Thin Mints. I took them and put them in the desk drawer in my room before I shared around the rest of the stuff. Took them with me when I went into the field with my unit. Picture me lying in a concrete bunker, in my sleeping bag at night, quietly nibbling on Thin Mints.
