Does Christina Hendriks look bigger than normal in these pics?

These pics

I would appreciate if the fashionistas on this board would comment on whether or not she’s dressing appropriately for her size. I think she looks fine. She’s definitely built bigger than your average TV actress, but she honestly to me doesn’t seem like she’s carrying a ton of excess fat . . . maybe it’s just evenly distributed and she’s carrying it well? She just seems big hipped and big boobed to me.

On top of that, I don’t think her outfit is too tight or anything. Sometimes it’s good to put bigger girls in more form-fitting clothes, just because they can be more slimming, if that makes any sense. If they’re wearing huge baggy shapeless dresses, they just look huge and shapeless to me.

Anyways, people who know more about fashion can chime in on this.

I don’t know anything about fashion but she looks good to me.

And the comments on that page are hilarious.

I don’t know her, but she seems pretty hot to me.

Wowza. That’s the first time I’ve seen her in every-day clothes, and result is startling. I already thought she was a stone cold fox, but seeing her in clothes you’d run to the grocery store in somehow takes her off this other-worldy pedestal I’d unconsciously put her on, and it makes her real. I’ll very likely never be on the set of Mad Men or attend an Hollywood awards show or premiere - so the trappings of that world sort of divorce and alienate the beautiful people from my world. There was a thread recently about great-looking non-celebrities, and these photos just underscore the phenomenon that so many reported: lots of everyday folks can stop you in your tracks the in way a that a gown or tux-clad celeb never could.

Well, she is in every day clothes, but those pics were taken on the set of a movie, so her makeup and hair is done . . . they’re not quite candid shots while she was going to the grocery story.

Sorry to burst your “every-day goddess” bubble, drastic_quench. But I do agree that she’s gorgeous outside of her corset-and-high-necked-dress standard Mad Men outfit.

She looks fine in that picture. I do want to say that the woman has a VERY HARD TIME dressing herself a lot of the time, though - often she shows up looking like a godawful hot mess and I just do not understand why. “Designers don’t know how to dress her body type” - whatever, they don’t have a mirror and she can’t say “Fuck you guys, I’m not wearing this”? They dress her awesome on Mad Men, she should hire those people.

No, I don’t think she looks “bigger than normal,” but I agree that her outfit isn’t terribly flattering and makes her appear vastly trashier than she is. (This is presumably the intended effect, so no blame there.)

I hate to sound crass, but I would totally hit that over and over again.

I think her body looks fine - curvy and nice.

However, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again - skinny jeans are a privilege, not a right. Curvy girls do NOT look good in skinny jeans - they make the butt look twice as wide as it actually is and not in a good way.

I’m saying this as a curvy girl who has looked longingly at the skinny jeans in shops all while knowing they look BAD on me.

Ditto for leggings.

Actually, if you’re over 40 these things tend to look bad as well regardless of your body type.

I’ve been in either love or lust with her since she was Mrs. Reynolds. I don’t see any reason for that to change in any of those pics.

I’ve said it before – Christina and I share the same body-type, except that I am 20-years older so gravity has begun to settle in a tad, but I agree with Alice above, I would never wear anything quite so tight because it is not age-appropriate.

Christina looks fine to me and I totally know what struggles she has finding close that fit well AND look attractive. The hardest part lately has been the resurgence of the Empire waist and low-rider jeans which simply does not work for we women with large breasts or a few bumps around the mid-section. The best thing we can do is accentuate our waist to show our curves.

I would hit that so hard that anyone that could pull me out would have to be declared the rightful king of all England. Just sayin.

She looks the same as she’s always looked to me, just without the suffocating corset. Christina Hendricks is not thin, but to call her “massive” is just plain silly.

Whoever wrote the accompanying article would be better served by trying to convince me that he’s not a basement dwelling kiddie porn fapper than that Christina Hendriks is fat.

Some of us appreciate that twice-as-wide. Oh yeah. I would whisk her away and worship her twice-as-wide butt forever and ever. I mean, if I wasn’t already with the man of my dreams and stuff.

Wow, the article is just absolutely… hateful. I don’t understand the need for such nastiness, but like DianaG said, I guess you have to do a lot of overcompensating when you live in your mom’s basement and your right hand is your only friend.

I think that in general her breasts make her look larger than she really is, but in these pictures the length of the sweater that’s causing the problem. I disagree with alice_in_wonderland about the skinny jeans - I think they show off her kickass curves. But the sweater cuts right at where her waist is, so it gives the illusion of shaplessness. Plus high-neck Tshirts on stacked girls just don’t work, you end up just looking huge.

If she’s supposed to look trashy, then the colour of the clothes in okay, but I can’t think of any reason to make her look this bad. If this was a real outfit and not for a movie, I’d say keep the jeans, go for a v-neck Tshirt that’s not cut too low and is any colour other than pink, and pick a tight-fitting, long sweater that hits about an inch or two lower than where the shirt in the original picture does - around the widest point of the hips. And hair down. She would have looked gorgeous.

She’s one of the few women I know of who looks hot just standing still and waiting.

I think she looks great, too, but I also agree with the skinny jeans comment.

I don’t think the tightness around the ass is the problem, it’s that there’s nothing balancing it out at the bottom. When flares were in, I was in heaven, because they cradled my nice curvy bits but didn’t make my skinny ankles look like they couldn’t possibly support my weight. I’ve grudgingly stopped wearing flares (I guess I’m not quite confident enough to totally say, “screw you, fashion police!”) but I do love “boot cut”, even though they’re not the most fashion forward cut right now.

Skinny jeans are for skinny people. There’s nothing wrong with being not-skinny (and there’s nothing wrong with being skinny) but if you’re not-skinny, then skinny jeans simply aren’t your best choice.

That first page photo is NOT flattering. Not the hips, which are nice, but the lighting and the way she’s holding her head combine with her long neck to make her look weird and chinless.

Of course, to notice that, one must look above shoulder level, which I suspect was not an issue during that particular shoot . . .

Just an unflattering shot, she looks pretty great in all the other ones. She could clearly look better, probably just in a pair of comfortable jeans and a t-shirt, but she’s still obviously a beautiful woman in a kind of crappy outfit.

A rope corset never stops being age appropriate. I’m just saying . . .

  1. The hair - I know she’s not a natural redhead but only because I read in a magazine that she’s been dying it red since she was a young teen. She has better redhead coloring than some natural redheads I know. It really suits her.

  2. That hoodie is totally unattractive. It’s way too small and would be even if she had smaller boobs. What’s with the coloring on the front? It looks like she has a major underboob sweat problem. The sleeves are so tight they make her arms look about the size of mine and I’m way heavier than she is.

  3. Skinny jeans are evil and don’t look good on ANYONE (including skinny people) but especially shouldn’t be worn by someone with an actual body. She has a great figure and the entire outfit is not at all flattering and frankly, it looks very uncomfortable.

  4. One last thing…pink DOES NOT LOOK GOOD ON REDHEADS!!! That particular shade of pink makes her hair look trashy and her skin look sickly. Pink on a redhead has to be very carefully planned and that shirt only was if the point was to make her look like trailer trash with a chronic illness.

That being said, she is a totally gorgeous woman and I appreciate the fact that she doesn’t try to Hollywoodize her body. She does have a tendency to wear really bad outfits but this is the first time I’ve seen her in one that actually made her look less stunning.
