I know regular posts can be removed by a moderator but can mod notes be removed or are they part of the permanent record?
I ask because I was mod notes, incorrectly, & even another poster questioned it & when I supplied a cite @puzzlegal said it would be rescinded but instead of removing it put another post lower on saying ignore what is above leaving the original turd-in-a-punchbowl mod note in the thread. If it can’t be removed I understand, but if it can, that’s lazy & bullshit job of moderation
All posts can be removed. It’s the style of this message board that we don’t remove posts, except for spammers and some unusual circumstances. If someone says something dumb (like me, in this case) they are supposed to suck it up and live with it.
I’ll also say, in my defense, that your post was reported by someone who didn’t understand it, and i, also, didn’t understand it, and other posters said the same. So while i own my mistake, it wasn’t 100% my fault. A few more words in your post would have clarified your story. That being said, i could have DMd you to ask what you were talking about. There was no urgency in writing that mod note.
Mod notes are not linked on your account, and don’t “add up” like warnings. We have no way to count them, except by manually reading a block of stuff. The only time they influence future moderator actions are when we are discussing a poster and remember, “yeah, i gave him a lot of notes about that, too”, or if posters are ignoring a mod note in a thread. We think of them as guidance, not as punishment.
Could perhaps your second post, rescinding the mod note, also be marked as a mod note? Anyone casually browsing may not realize that Spiderman did not actually post an A.I. image and it was a misunderstanding.
