Does this style of facial hair have a name?

Yeah, but given that I’m asking rather than answering the question, I don’t exactly feel qualified to do so in this instance. :slight_smile:

I think this thread has made it clear that this style doesn’t have a single name, but (not counting deliberately insulting monikers) there are a few different terms used to commonly describe it.

I’ve always known it as “candado” (padlock)

This place calls it a Van Dyke as well.

Imagine my predicament – I teach college classes where we critique the culture… now I find that, because my beard doesn’t extend up my cheeks, I have no culture.

Do I need to give up the tweed sportcoats with the suede elbow patches, and buy some sleeveless T-shirts with Nascar logos?
