When it’s not a beard, but fuzz all over the face. I hate the word fuzz. It’s like a 5 o’clock shadow but maybe 3 or 4 5’oclock shadows in a row, like the man didn’t shave for a few days. Let me see if I can find some pics:
Alice, I’d ask for pics but it’s a little creepy and weird to ask for another woman’s husband’s pics, so I’ll refrain. But, if you should feel inclined to post them…
Just google up ‘light beard’ and you should get a pretty good idea.
The only pics with facial hair I have of hubby feature a foo-man-choo (don’t even ask me how you spell that) 'cus he likes to grow out one of those every once and a while. Cute, but not at all what you’re looking for.
I wouldn’t call them scruff. IMO scruff is when you don’t shave for a few days. Those beards are kept that length with a beard trimmer, they all appear to be shaved at the top and the ones that are going for the nice/neat/clean look shaved the neck line as well. They may be going for the scruffy look, but it’s a full beard.
Fu Manchu. I know, because my SO is Chinese and his beard - when he grows one - naturally grows in that shape. So of course he never grows one. I mock him when he does, anyway.
But Joey, how do you then differentiate between that and what I think of as a full beard, where the hair is half an inch or longer?
Darn those unisex names. In the days of my grandfather, at least, you knew what kind of people you were chatting with.
But the week beard has been around for at least the mid eighties (I channel the power of Don Johnson here).
Assuming you’re referring to the above post, I can go with light beard then, I’ve just never heard the term before. I just wanted to differentiate full/light beard from scruff. IMO scruff is just when you haven’t shaven, whereas a full or light beard takes some maintenance, it isn’t something you do by being lazy. Unless it’s the type of full beard you get by just not shaving anymore. If you just stop shaving and go with “I’m not touching it anymore” it tends to look pretty ratty. Also, you’ll see it’s very uneven along the top and his neckline will look just as ragged.
Hit it with a beard trimmer, wait a few days hit it again, give the bare spots some time to fill in and after a few days or weeks carve the neck line and the top and keep using the beard trimmer set at the lowest level or no guard and then you’ll have light beard that looks like you haven’t shaved in 3 days.
This makes me laugh. Do I need instructions? I may be Indian, but I swear, I only have a few sparse hairs that I need to pluck! Just like 3-4! I don’t need instructions!
