I need some help from you dog experts. As part of my latest model project, I purchased a little resin dog figure, and decked him out in a spacesuit. And now it’s time to paint him, and I haven’t the foggiest what color to use.
Perhaps some of you dog boffins could tell me what breed he is?
Size-wise, his back is about knee-height on a girl figure in the same scale.
I for sure get a terrier vibe from the dog. A Lakeland terrier is about the right size (tail is a bit shorter tho), and with a shaved muzzle and legs it would have almost the identical silhouette.
Dalmatian is so distinctive … so obvious … is that what you want, a clear and immediately recognizable breed? … one alternative is to paint him tawny and let people guess …
I’d have burpo send me a picture of himself and paint the figure that way … if anyone asks you can say it’s a mutt you met over the internet … then paint the girl with Dalmatian spots hahahaha …
Many thanks for all your inputs (some of which were…interesting ). The smooth fox terrier looks likely, and has interesting coloration on the head–so it looks like Astro is going to be a fox terrier
Oh you didn’t say he had a name…that changes everything…
You know how Richie Rich’s dog had $$ spots, you could make your model have star spots, etc! I am so emotionally invested now…We must see the finished project…I insist on it!
He’s definitely some sort of terrier, but knee-high is way too big for a Jack Russel. Regardless, though, you can’t go wrong with beigeish brown with a few darker brown or black splotches.
EDIT: On thinking about it a bit more, “terrier” is the one sort of dog that a space-dog definitely is not. He might still be a lunnier or an martier, though.
