I’m sure this one might get moved. But I wasn’t sure where else to put it.
I am aware of a lot of the symbolism in BDSM, but I can’t seem to recall one, and I’m at work so really can’t go looking out on the normal sites for my answer.
So I’m asking here.
Is there a specific side to hang a flog or crop if one is Dom? I remember being instructed a long time ago on this, but I never got around to buying a flog, so am at a loss.

Years ago, there were a few regional variations, but everyone seems to have settled on left=dom, right=sub now.
I like that. I’m sure something might happen. 
That is correct, left dom, right sub. But it doesn’t have to be a flog…can be handcuffs attatched to the belt loop, handkerchiefs (more a gay dom/sub thing), etc. Basically it can mean what you’re into and if you like doing it or having done to you. 
Hmmm… maybe I should switch the side I keep my wallet in then…

Nothing wrong with having your own equipment. Also, some people switch back and forth depending on their mood/partner at the time/whatever. Plenty of good reasons.

But is the left/right thing determined by/is relative to the viewer or the viewee?
It would be based on the side of the wearer, ie: I dom (sort of) so I would wear it on my left side. My ex was sub(although she wanted to switch), so she would wear it on her right.
I don’t know. If it’s on the right, does that mean you want to get paid?
