Don Juanna Is Here. It Must Be The MMP

Don Juanna don’t live here today, because there’s absolutely nothing I have to do for the whole day aside from laze about (well, that and present myself at the in-laws sometime this afternoon for dinner… but they’re awfully sweet, so no Don Juannas there either). So, like gt, it’s all about Don Haveta today. Wheeee!

I kind of pictured Don Juanna as a Peggy Bundy lookalike, for some odd reason.

Congrats on the new job,** Kricket**! Sorry to hear about the other no-so-fun stuff, though.

Pie, mind sending some of that Mexican Lasagna? I Don Juanna make lunch.

Dearie, don’t go trying to ‘splain the difference to the people who organize bookstores. At least Brit bookstores. And let’s not talk about regular Spanish bookstores, where if you ask about “science fiction” they look at cha like you haven’t showered since first grade and isn’t it about time you cleaned the concrete blocks under the driveway junker or sumthin’?

I started reading books in English because back then I read slower in English than in Spanish, therefore they lasted longer (something my microbudget appreciated very much). But then I discovered that Happy Books (a chain of big bookstores in Barcelona which specializes in sales and leftovers in several languages, mostly Spanish, Catalan and English) has both a Science Fiction and a Fantasy section… and then I discovered this bookstore called Gigamesh (no l) which specializes in Science Fiction and Fantasy in any language (if you can give him an ISBN and the book exists, Alejo will find it)…

It was Alejo’s fault I met Pterry too :stuck_out_tongue: a corrupter of youth, I tell you!

Oh, and a happy Día de la Raza to y’all

Yet again I tell myself I will keep up with the MMP. Work today, it’s my Friday, so all I have to do is hang in there for eight hours. yawn

We woke up to a good inch of snow this morning. Which kinda made me want to go play in the snow. So despite the down sides of snow, I’m feeling pretty good and pretty un-Don Wanna today. Rather enthusiastic even.

Mexi-lasagna’s on our menu for sometime this week too, Pie. It might have been on for tonight if I’d remembered to take ground beef out of the freezer this morning.

I made pumpkin cake yesterday. Half for home with nuts in it and half for work with no nuts. I brought in a different pumpkin cake last week so people are going to be getting sick of my baking soon!

I’m supposed to have a Don Haveta day today too, but unfortunately, will have to drive my daughter down to the DOL to get a replacement/duplicate title for her car. This certainly slows up the settlement process for her getting a check to replace her totaled car.:frowning: It’s her own fault, but I’m the one stuck dealing with it.

The car is in her name, so she’ll have to do it; I can’t do it for her. I’m tempted to make her drive down there all by herself and handle it.

Don’t know what I’ll make for dinner tonight. Something good since I’m home today. I’m sure hubby will be stuck working a very long day again. It’s been very busy where he works and he’s been working 12 and 13 hour days.

I’m gonna caffienate and hop in the shower, I guess.

VWife just heard a tease for the noon news for a “possible murder-suicide in Cottonfield County”. Ain’t no ‘possible’ to it, I saw the bodies and had to pronounce one of them daid. They weren’t only mostly daid…

Stoooopid news reporters. Must have been in cahoots with the stoooopid fish this morning.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, y’see, this here was Mexican Lasagna made with chicken. Yuck. But again, this is what they wanted.

Don Juanna has arrived at my place at last. I decided to make some caramels via **muppet’s **suggestion, but it appears as though my candy thermometer is in the large, disorganized storage shed behind the house. :dubious:

BBBobbio maybe they are waiting for the coronor to say they are really and sincerely daid.

Da cave is defilthyfied and I made a meatloaf for dindin tonight. Dindin shall be meatloaf, succotash, mac&cheese and rolls. Num! Plus there’s caramel cake for dessert!

Don Juan/Juana definitely did not visit da cave today. I shall now go and take a well earned and deserved nappy poo.

Later Y’all!

I rather liked the review of Twilight Geoffrey Chaucer’s blog. Anyone else read it? I think it’s the September 10th post.
Lazy and tired today. Mr. Lissar is sick, which is how you know it’s a holiday. Sigh.

Well, they just happen to be related to the Spanish reporters who refer to murder-by-terrorists as “an attempt” (no, hon, the bastiches did succeed) or to a cop who went nuts and killed his ex-wife in front of his own partner as “the supposed uxoricide” (we realize he hasn’t been judged yet, but the question is how much will he get, not whodunit).

Hello, Mumpers All!!

Despite mostly sleeping in till about 7:30-ish (I did wake up at 5, then went back to sleep) I’ve accomplished a good bit today. **FCD **and I had breakfast enroute to picking up some oak plywood and luaun plywood. Then I started disassembling the bathroom. The shower door came down first. A guy called and asked for the mirrored door, so the rest is landfill-bound. I cleaned out the vanity and the wall cabinets, tossing a lot of stuff. Then I took down all the tile around the tub.

After I get the last of the tile out to the trailer for the dump, I’m going to cut down the sheetrock from around the shower. Then the small wall cabinet, the toilet, and the sink will go. And that’ll probably do it for today. Tomorrow I’ll start breaking up the floor - that’s going to be a booger of a job. Then the tub comes out.

I hate taking the tub to the landfill - it’s ugly, but it’s still useable. I’ll put it in the PennySaver and Freecycle - maybe someone will want it…

Break time over. Back to work with me. yay.

You called it, Swampus.Last paragraph… Note that they seem to reference a single autopsy, which better be hers. His cause of death was blatantly obvious.

The little article overall; the only things they got right were she was a janitor at Mayberry Elementary and they were having marital problems.

I am not a happy camper. I made a double batch of caramels as per Muppet’s recipe and when I was done I saw the 2 cans of evaporated milk sitting on the counter.

Been there, done that, and quickly disposed of the results.

The tastiest screw-up I did was put in double the required brown sugar in a batch of chocolate chip cookies. It went in before the white, so I halved that so the total amount of sugar was the same. I also deliberately doubled the requisite vanilla. Best cooking screwup I ever made…

Ughh… bad mix here of Don Wanna and Gotsta.

Gotsta as in gotsta go to work as we’re open for business.

We had kittens at the Faire site. Not really feral, but free-range and filthy. We found two kittens estaimated to be 4-6 weeks old. Someone who knows a hell of a lot more about kittens than I do washed 'em up, found them to be full of fleas and devoid of food. So, fleas were picked off and food was fed. Both have been adopted and are now living the comfy life instead of hiding in gopher holes or under generators.

Speaking of the Faire, it was a busy week and many of our patrons are showing up in all manner of uh, interesting, costumes. No shortages of Furries, bad Jack Sparrows, duct-tape and cardboard knights, King Vitamins and Sir Stockpots. Seriously - this dude went around all day with a badly dented kitchen pot on his head.

It’s all good. If someone wants to drive halfway to forever to find the Faire and pay $25 to get in, they can do whatever they want as long as it’s not dangerous or excessively disruptive.

I have had an awful day at a job that I hate.

Even wine isn’t helping :frowning:

{{{mmmms}}}

Whoa, Nellie have I eaten TOO MUCH caramel! It’s quite yummy, though.

:buzzes out of MMP:

Don Juana (shouldn’t it be Dona Juana?) is spending Columbus Day at my house, in the company of Don Hafta (one of the reasons I like working for the county). I dropped the Princess off at school and went back to bed. Woke up at 11, had brekkie, and am planning to clean my room. Just as soon as I’m done watching the episodes of Bleach I recorded on Saturday night, and the RiffTraxed version of “Twilight.” I did, however, manage to reschedule the Princess’ dentist appointment, and schedule her eye exam for this weekend. At least something got done. I might even work on my AMVs later, if I can.

I forgot earlier, Hi Ya Kricks! OOH!! Lucky! dropped by too! Jake!

Da cave smells meatloafariffic! The smell of meatloaf bakin’ away is always such an awesome smell ain’t it!

Hee! I got a call from one of OYKW’s co-workers. I thought it was weird when the phone rang and caller ID showed up as his place of work cause he usually calls on his cell if he calls durin’ the day. Anywho, they had been talkin’ about what to have for dindin and he told ‘em what he was havin’. She called me up to tell me she told him he’s becomin’ a spoiled brat because she keeps hearin’ about all those wonderful meals he eats. She knows me, so it’s all good. Cracked me up!

I do not consider myself to be a super great cook. Good, mind you, but not great. I mean, I cook normal everyday stuff like I grew up eatin’. Still, it’s nice to hear stuff like that once in a while.

CutiePie what’s that? Nellie and you were eatin’ caramel together? Does doggio know about this?

Hey, I know you’re dying to see what I did today.

If you recall, this is what the bathroom looked like the day we moved in.

Well, this is what was behind the cabinet over the toilet. Yes, it’s contac paper. Imagine that covering the entire bathroom.

Thiswas the tub and shower door. And thisis how it looks now. This, too.

And thisis just because…

Off to fetch daughter’s car from the shop. * $$$$$$$$$*
