Don Juanna Is Here. It Must Be The MMP

Wow,** FCM**, that’s A LOT of blue.

Managed to get an Affadavit in Lieu of Title for my daughter’s car. Fortunately, my insurance company accepts this from my state; otherwise, we would have had to wait eight to ten weeks for a new title. This wouldn’t have been good, because we’re trying to settle her insurance claim and get the check for her totaled car.

In a bit, we’ll head down to the local fed ex office, where they have notary services, sign off on some insurance paperwork, and fed ex it back to the insurance company in the envelope they so thoughtfully provided.

Other than obtaining the affadavit, and a stop at the grocery store, I haven’t done too much. I should, but DonJuana is living large at this house today.

Besides, it’s cold and dark outside. It just sucks all the get up and go right out of me.

 That sink is god-awful, mooooooom! Looks like somebody retched up a passel of creamed spinach. The rest is orful, too.

I had a very long day. Not only did I have to go to work, it seemed that most of our customers didn’t, so there wasn’t much to do. On top of that, sometime this weekend, somebody wised up and blocked the Dope.

Roomie is very sick, and I’m hiding on the other side of the room, hoping not to catch it. I doubt strongly that I will be successful.

Dinner tonight may very well consist of corn chips, because that’s just how lazy I’m feeling.

But what if the vampires have space ships??

Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians! And happy Monday evening to everybody else.

Drae attack of the alien vampires! Now there’s a move I’d pay money to go see!

Ummmmmm… MOOOOOOM I gotta say, this is one time that the durin’ remodel pics look better than the before remodel pics. Except for the blue cherubs. Those are to die for!

Taters accepting the affadavit is at least some good news.

Puggy how the visit with your brother go? [del]Nosy[/del] inquiring Mumpers wanna know.

Ok, time to go put rolls in the oven. OYKW aka the spoiled brat is on his way.

Ok, gotta really go bake the rolls now. However I just had to do a search first.

Lo and behold! An alien vampire movie!

Gotti, the stockpot on the guy’s head made me laugh. And yay for homes for the kittens.

Got my flu shot. My arm’s sore but that’s a lot less to deal with than the actual flu.

Gotta go home and try to figure out dinner with no un-frozen sources of protein.

Not only is the faux marble really hideous, they used some sort of cleaner on the basin and totally stripped the finish, so it’s rough and pitted and filthy - it can’t be cleaned. Tomorrow, it’ll be on the trailer, eventually bound for the dump. It can’t be salvaged at all. Oh, and did you noticed the lovely wallpaper border that also graces the vanity and the wall cabinet in the “before” photo?

swampy, my mom took the cherubs, intending to spray paint them gold and use them for Christmas decorations. I need to ask if she ever did that.

**Taters **- a lot of blue is an understatement! Didja love the fuzzy blue rugs? I’ve got a fuzzy tank cover, too. And it’s hard to tell from the “before” pic, but there’s a blue princess phone sitting on the toilet. Yes, it worked. No, it’s long gone…

Well, phase one of daughter’s car repairs cost her $430+ - she went in for an oil change, but her rotors were all warped, so they all had to be machined. Plus they found that her control bushings are shot - that’ll be a $475 adventure later this week when the parts come in. Naturally, they don’t have that much money, so Mom and Dad National Bank is covering the tab and they’ll pay us back as they can. Considering how much our parents helped us over the years, it’s the very least we can do.

Supper was sketties - yum! Now it’s time to assume the knit position.

That was the premise of Stargate:Atlantis. Too late, doooood.

Know what would be a really good movie? Attack Of The Alien Vampire Clowns! Who wouldn’t want to see that.

So, OYKW gets here and I say the rolls have about five more minutes before they’re done cause I got waylaid a few minutes googlin’ for alien vampire movies. Perfectly sane, logical reason, right? What he had to say was he’d ask why I felt so compelled but wouldn’t for fear I’d explain it and it might make sense.

Dindin was good though. He had to eat and run cause he’s got some paperwork stuff to catch up on, poor thing.

Well, now I’m working for three departments at work - this should be interesting.

How come everybody has problems with daughter’s cars, and cooks an awful lot?

That’s what you get for skimming, I guess.

Although, I’m pretty darned sure I’d avoid any Attack Of The Alien Vampire Clowns movies. Yup. That much I’m sure of.

Just poppin’ back in to say nighty nite. Tomorrow starts my new work week. Le Sigh.

Sweet Dreams!

That bathroom belongs in Gitmo. I was nauseated at the vanity; the cherubs were a crime against humanity. If you left it with the studs exposed, it would still be an improvement.

Yay on Rosie (forgot to do that yesterday). Well done–you must be thrilled.

I now have Don Juana over at my house. I see her as a frumpy, highlights need touching up, hair scraped back in pony, linty black sweats on with flip-flops kinda gal. I am dog tired and today at work was just ok. That’s the first just ok day I’ve had. (where is the scared smiley?) I think I am just tired from the weekend–I hate doing my Saturday oncall bit (RN job) and this weekend I was there for 7 hours, so I only had one day off.
I did read. Hugs and pats on back etc to all who need them. My brain is fried. Night!

That’s a very scary sounding movie possibility, swampy. I was with you until you added the clowns. In that context clowns just make me shudder.

How’d the lunch turn out, Pie? Interesting combination…

Welcome back Kricket and Lucky! And congrats on the new job, Kricket.

Oooh, forgot about the bathroom.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Lots of clean-up done chez GT. And knitting, too. I’m working on a scarf and on some handwarmers, to be followed by another scarf and a shawlette for under my heaviest winter coat.

Back to doin’ stuff…

GT

You came by and didn’t say hi? :(

I got the Don Junnas over the Booster Club minutes, since they’re goning to be twice as long because of an hour long discussion about somebody’s “Not gonnas”

FCM, my bathroom is done in pink tile. It is definitely the least manly part of Casa Perro.

swampy, they’ve already done Killer Clowns From Outer space. And there were vampires in that movie? I didn’t notice.

{{{{{{mmmmm}}}}}}}}

I read that as “bad mix of Don Wanna and Goatsie”[sup]10[sup]10[/sup][/sup]

**doggio **- the house we owned in Virginia had very pretty grey tiles, but the wallpaper was pink and full of swans. yeah, it was, um, stunning… It was still there 4 years later when we sold the place.

Well, I managed to knit a few rows on the afghan that’ll never get done, so now I think it’s bedtime. **FCD **has to go back to work tomorrow, so I’ll be up early. I may go back to sleep - we’ll see how I feel in the morning. Laterz!!!

Just got home from the in-laws’. As per Jewish tradition for goyish holidays, we had deli for dinner (they’d probably have ordered Chinese, which is even more proper, but the place they usually order from is closed on Mondays). I’m stuffed.

doggio, I have a pink bathroom too. Well, only sorta pink… it’s actually a marbly gray/pink/burgundy granite tile which the previous owner must have gotten on clearance, because the whole damn bathroom is covered in it. shudder We did our best to compensate by putting in lots of non-pink accessories, which has only been partially successful (everyone still calls it “the pink bathroom”)

My favourite bathroom ever is in my mother’s house in Montreal - it hasn’t been touched since the 1960s, so it’s in mint condition… complete with mint-green tiles, mint-green tub, mint-green sink and mint-green toilet. Seriously, it’s like walking into a pack of spearmint gum. I have a soft spot for kitschy retro stuff like that, though, so I’ve made her promise to leave it just as it is.

Pie, did the caramels turn out okay anyways? They’re probably not as creamy, but I’d suspect they’re still quite edible.

OK, time to toodle off to bed. Don Juanna is reminding me there’s work in the morning. :frowning:

I’m down at page two somewhere! Just home from a weekend at Knoebels Amusement Park. I think I may have had enough of the bumper cars (the old 500lb Lusse ones that are like hitting with real cars) to hold me until opening day. But its great to be back home too!

The caramel was very tasty. I actually ate so much that I was in a sugar fog for several hours. I won’t do that again. The only thing that I found slightly irritating was that I used the specified pan size and the caramel is much too thin to cut into squares and wrap as candy.

If you people think that sink of FCM’s is bad in that pic, you haven’t seen it up close. Gaaaaaah! It was horrible! Great house in so many ways, but yikes.

My current bathroom has its original sink. It’s old enough it’s white enamel and has separate faucets for hot and cold water. Since I always wanted to live in a log cabin I’m just grateful that mine has running water and electricity. The only thing I’m missing is a fireplace. That, I could use.

I know there are a lot of people in twenty years who are going to be complaining about their stainless steel appliances and granite countertops; they’ll be so dated! Awful! g

Don Juana left my place when I got home because it is my Firday night. I have a few things I need to do over the next couple of days but nothing that needs to be done tomorrow unless I decide I feel ambitious. I’ll be meeting some online friends on Saturday so I do need to do a small load of laundry either tomorrow or Wednesday so a particular new pair of jeans is clean, but otherwise, I have nothing to do…and nothing to worry about. Weird.

For today’s class we had to translate a recipe. The jury convened yesterday during a fire alarm (one of my classmates is in the same dorm as me) and decided that

  1. the “original” we were given is actually a translation,
  2. it’s missing pieces all over the place (no units for example)
  3. when it doesn’t have the wrong units (who the bloody blue blazes weighs milk?)
  4. the original was British (it uses materials which are not available in Spain nor, from what I know, in much of Latin America, but which are common in Britain)
  5. and if you cooked it as explained you would get something pretty inedible.

It’s bad enough when your clients give you originals full of grammer, spelunkin and fakshal errers, but unless the purpose of the exercise is to have us point out all the mistakes I don’t think teachers ought’a.

Speaking of teachers, is it bad form to give a book to one? One of my teachers misquoted TANSTAAFL the other day. I’m fine with and even appreciate having teachers who quote The Master, but again they should do it right. After all, us students are supposed to get our quotes right.
