The fascinating implication of this nugget appearing in the WaPo means that (a) at least one Republican congresscritter doesn’t care how bad Trump looks in the press and (b) Trump pissed off the Washington Post and they’re taking no prisoners. As somebody once said, don’t get into a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel.

Honestly though, in the extremely unlikely chance that Trump is elected, the one bright and shiny lining will be the certain demise of the Republican Party. Predictions of the demise of the Democratic or Republican parties have become legion in recent years, but this time it really will happen. They’ll go the way of the Whigs. Finally.
Senator Bob Sasse should commence sucking up to apply for the VP slot.
“Trump-Sasse '16” just rolls off the tongue. A thing of absolute beauty.
Illinois Republican Senator Mark Kirk, generally considered to be among the most at-risk Republicans up for re-election, is running a campaign ad in which he sounds positively Democratic:
- Supports a hearing for Merrick Garland
- Supports a woman’s right to choose
- Feels Trump is unfit for the presidency
I’m waiting for a Republican officeholder to announce that if Trump wins, then he (the officeholder) is going to switch to the Democratic Party.

Trump’s fuck up with the Articles of the Constitution reminds me a little of Palin’s infamous “Uh, all of 'em” response when asked which newspaper she read. “Mr. Trump, which Articles of the Constitution do you feel apply most directly to this question?” “Uh, all of 'em!”
The Constitution is not a very long document. It’s not unreasonable to expect a candidate for President to have a good grasp of at least the basics.
Sometimes it seems like Trump’s brain works like the old Jon Lovitz character, Tommy Flanagan. Only instead of “Yeah, that’s the ticket” he gives us “Believe me” or “Let me tell you…” And instead of his “beautiful wife…Morgan Fairchild!” we get “I’m gonna build a wall…and make Mexico pay for it!”
Nice double bill on TCM tonight…All the President’s Men, a cautionary tale about how smart politicians don’t mess with the Washington Post, and The Candidate, a cautionary tale about how the Republican’s still going to lose.

Has Trump said anything official yet about the shooting in Dallas? Will he show some class and presidential chops, or simply throw his base another dose of raw meat?

I fear the shooting may give, in the macabre way American politics works, Trump a major boost in the polls…the politics of fear is a well-known phenominon (sp).
He responded in a tweet which was obviously written by somebody other than DT.
Trump already mishandled the Orlando shootings, he and his staff were really pissed that it did not boost him in the polls. The biggest surprise to me would be to see him act presidential.
At 4am, tweet was quite mature. “Prayers and condolences to all of the families who are so thoroughly devastated by the horrors we are all watching take place in our country” He’s not a complete moron, he’s got someone sensible working on this obviously.
Yeah, he said Cruz’s dad was in on it. Oh, the NEW shooting. Nothing yet.
Watching Trump’s campaign is like driving down the freeway and coming by an accident scene in the opposite direction. You know nothing good is there but you can’t help but look at it just to see how bad it is.

I’m almost willing to give Trump a pass on the Article I thing. I know the content of the constitution very well, but I couldn’t tell you what article states which concept. Trump’s problem is that, instead of responding with “remind me of the Article I concept you want to discuss”, he tried to bullshit his way through it.
