Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

I can easily imagine it. I think, deep down, that Trump would probably rather punish his enemies than be elected President.

It’s not hard at all to imagine him wanting to punish Cruz and Kasich. It’s harder to imagine him willingly parting with $20 million to do it.

Well as this article shows, Trump does not spend his money wisely. He just spends it to gratify his own lizard brain.

Spending 20 million to attack Cruz and Kasich would be no different than his purchase of the Plaza Hotel, Eastern Airlines Shuttle, Trump Princess, etc. He’s a horrible, horrible businessman with horrible, horrible judgement.

If we’re saying whole art forms don’t count, we go by averages, not exceptional achievements.

Yup, I told that story. It Was by best friend and his FIL, not me. But that is precisely what happened.

Rich people using their wealth to NOT pay is an old story, really. I read an article about how the Winklevoss Twins had been evicted for like the third time because, for the third straight time, they never paid the rent. The just figured, hey, we’re rich. We don’t pay rent. Call the lawyer and have him stop the eviction.

The mother of Amb. Stevens wants the GOP and Trump to shut up about Benghazi.

And right now I’m [del]banging my head against a wall[/del] having a discussion with a [del]person[/del] Trump supporter on FB about the semantics of “article” versus “amendment”. He posted a link to some conservative website that has the text of the constitution but mistakenly uses the term “article” where it should say “amendment”. Once again they have their own version of reality. I wonder if using the term “article” instead of “amendment” has some political meaning in conservative-reality-world[sup]tm[/sup] ?

You expect decency and respect? They only care about grieving mothers when it serves their political purposes.

The First Article acknowledges the right to Fight Club.

The Second Article does not talk about Fight Club.

The original text of the Bill of Rights used “Article the First” through “Article the Twelfth” to refer to the proposed amendments (one was never ratified, and one took 200 years to ratify). “Article the Twelfth” was what we now call the 10th Amendment, so that would be something the right-wingers would love, but of course Trump didn’t know that.

Well, that’s the thing about my musing: if they key into states with an unpopular Republican governors, and say that Trump will govern the nation like the governor did the state, that keys into the same dissatisfaction that Trump uses, only even more local and immediate, something voters are more likely to have experienced directly. That’s why I was wondering if it could be uniquely effective in places like Indiana and Kansas.

ETA, re: Michael Moore’s dire prediction: as a left leaning sort, he has not much to lose by predicting Trump: either he’s relieved to be wrong, or he gets to say I told you so. His depression is like the anxiety others will feel in the lead up, so he isn’t unusually hurt. The only ones who are are others, if he’s given up doing things politically he would’ve otherwise, or discourages others.

Michael Moore also said Romney was absolutely, without a doubt, going to crush Obama. He just KNEW it was going to happen. Moore is the poster child for political pessimism.

Anyone predictions that are substantially different than Nate Silver’s are no more worth paying attention to than a coin flip.

Including Sam Wang. Neener neener.

You and Michael Moore have much to discuss.

Disarm him. Agree with him that Trump is the world’s foremost authority on things Constitutional.

Seriously, it’s like arguing with a brick wall. There’s no point.

Wang called the Republican nomination for Trump back in January.

You must be seriously addicted to making bad predictions.

I think Trump will use the leaked DNC emails and the fact that Wasserman-Schultz resigned over them effectively against Clinton: “Nobody likes her! Her own party had to rig things to make her the nominee! THAT’S how crooked she is!”

“And if my party could have, it would have dragged me out back and shot me in the head!”

Trump’s tweets are fascinating. Since the Wikileaks stuff hit, he has been pandering to former Bernie supporters. Today, Bernie finally commented last night that, in spite of the DNC e-mails, “Most of my supporters understand that Trump has got to be defeated”.

I think the Big Cheeto actually thought Bernie was going to jump ship. When he did not, the tweets from Donne started getting testy.
