Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

You know this is Trump we are talking about, right? He will not be able to stay focused on anything. He is all over the place. And whereas a normal candidate would have a competent campaign around him/her to keep him on message, Trump has surrounded himself with enablers.

“But I’m a winner and I’m strong and I took control and here I am the GOP nominee. You can vote for me or for her; who do you want as President a winner, a strong leader or a crook who cheats to win?”

See what I mean? It plays into his own need for self-aggrandizement so well I think it’s inevitable we’ll hear about it and hear about it often.

Trump is, of course, a sociopath who’s solely interested in accruing money, power, and fame for himself, and as such he assumes that everyone else thinks the same way he does. Bernie wanted to be president, therefore he wants power, so it’s only logical that he should join up with Trump in the hopes of catching some of his scraps on the way up.

Since Sanders actually has values and principles and believes in things and isn’t willing to sacrifice them all to climb aboard the Trump train, Trump concludes he must not really want to be successful.

The latest; Trump believes his presence was the only thing that stopped an angry mob from murdering Ted Cruz.

I think that’s the point. Wang was early on calling it Trump with a high degree of confidence when 538 was saying that trump would collapse.

538 is not infallible and in fact by the nature of their system should fail some of the time.

That said, the larger point stands, anyone who is way outside the range of probabilities that the major number crunchers come up with (Wang and Silver are in close ballparks currently) is not worth paying too much attention to.

Others piled into the conversation on my side and he seems to have abandoned the discussion, so I’m going to leave well enough alone. I suspect that he realizes he’s mistaken on the facts and doesn’t want to admit it, or at least he can’t take the massive opposition.

By this point there is literally nothing Trump could say, write or tweet that would surprise me. Nothing.

Michael Flynn is a retired Lt. General, a former contender to be Trump’s running mate, and now a senior foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign. Let that sink in a bit.

Over the weekend, he took to Twitter:
“The corrupt Democratic machine will do and say anything to get #NeverHillary into power. This is a new low,” Flynn tweeted, sharing a link to a tweet from user Saint Bibiana who wrote “>Cnn implicated. ‘The USSR is to blame!’ … Not anymore, Jews. Not anymore.”
Now, I know the offenderati will immediately shout him down with cries of “bigot!!!” But, calling journalists “Jews” is a common term of endearment where I come from. Just the other day, I remarked to my neighbor, “Those fucking Jews at NPR really did a great ‘Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me’ this week”. And when I share news stories I really like on Facebook, I superimpose a big star on the images to draw attention to them. A big six pointed star, so they stand out from all the five pointed stars you see all the time. This is all innocent and easily explained, but someone is always right there to start screaming about antisemitism or something. Getting to where you can’t say anything to anyone anymore.

Yeah, thank God Trump is going to put an end to “political correctness”.

I don’t think God has anything to do with it. Look to a hotter clime…

Soon, you won’t be able to call them kind, intelligent keen employees anymore, and that goes against a gentlemanly agreement my fellow club members and I share in a strictly informal and off-the-books sort of way.

Kinda reminds me of a buddy, we’re walking, and we see a full-dress Jaguar smoothing along, he says “I wish I had the money to buy a car like that.” And I said “Shit, bro, you don’t really want a car like that!”

“No, I just wish I had the money. Wouldn’t buy that car if I did, I’d spend it on sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, fer sure.” Priorities.

Isn’t he overdue to trade Melania in for a newer model?

Maybe she has photos that prove his hands lied.

To paraphrase a quote from Bill Maher “Trump saved the box she came in so he can send her back when she turns fifty.”

He’s waiting until he can issue that executive order legalizing father-daughter marriage.

Nah. She’s jewish by now, isn’t she?

I’m sure he meant it as a compliment. After all, he’s Team Trump and Trump is pro-Israel. He said so in his acceptance speech.

(Or maybe they’re pro a non-Jewish Israel - wait… no…)

Uh-Oh.

Pence considers bailing on Koch summit.

It’s being spun that he has too many campaign commitments, but it may be that the animosity between Trump and the Koch’s is too deep for Pence to heal… and if you’re Donald Trump, and your VP can’t bring in big donor bucks, what the hell do you have Mike Pence for?

There are very few “campaign events” more important than the event of “sitting with billionaire donors who are thinking of sitting this one out”. If Pence cancels, consider the Koch money officially eliminated from the Republican Presidential race.
