Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

The Repubs had their big smackdown/intervention Weds or Thursday, so he will be quiet for a few days. But they can’t keep him away from the cameras and his cell phone forever.

I saw a new poll which said that Trump was getting 1% of the black support. The poll said “plus or minus 10 per cent”. Does that mean that negative nine percent of black people might be supporting him?

Tellin’ it like it is. Well done, Mr. Brooks!

Crazy Carl Paladino, Trump’s New York co-chair, still thinks Obama is a Moozlihm.

Mrs. Brooks’ son Davey. Purveyor of the bleeding obvious as revelation, born-again centrist. He recognizes the disease, but isn’t really willing to tell them what the cure is.

The cure is losing. Losing big, losing massively. Not a Republican party that awakens in a pool of vomit and empty bottles of cheap vodka with crack pipe burns on the fingers and says, well, maybe I gotta tone this down a little. Get a little exercise, ride my bike when I go to score my heroin. Its too late for reform and moderation. Gotta lose, and lose big.

Split the Party? No way round that, yes. From where I stand, can’t really tell who’s got the biggest chunk. The moderate and sensible conservatives who are ready to confront climate change as soon as they can offload their investments in fossil fuels at a profit? Or the batshit baboons, who swear its all a gigantic hoax by so-called “scientists”. Moderate conservatives who are willing to move towards socialized medicine just as soon as they figure out how to keep the health insurance industry profitable? Or the BB’s, who figure that if you don’t have enough money for medicine, drag your dying ass to work and get some!

They have to lose, lose big, and reform themselves into the Loyal Opposition. No more bargaining with the hateful screechers. It will be good for them, suffering builds character. Leastwise, that’s what they’ve been telling us.

He must have read the thread I started a couple of days ago.

Another useful recent article about Trump’s supporters appeared last night on the Washington Post site. A bit of it:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-facts-dont-matter-to-trumps-supporters/2016/08/04/924ece4a-5a78-11e6-831d-0324760ca856_story.html

The article contains a number of references to solid research studies.

And he still put a damn exclamation point at the end of it, as though he could do a mic drop after admitting to being a liar :smack:

I think it’s a very elegant sentence: no less than six clauses (or seven if you count two gerund clauses) linked together for a clear meaning. Nitpick: “False,” I think, should be “nonexistent” or some other word. The claim was false, not the video.

Diagramming the sentence would be sheer joy, for those into such things. “after” is a preposition serving as a subordinating conjunction, but how is “Even” classified? It is an adverb modifying “after”?

I’m collecting new names for Donald Trump. So far my favorites are:

*wiggy slice
*cinnamon Hitler
*tangerine Caligula
*toupéed fucktrumpet
*weapons-grade plum

This was my favourite bit, by David Brooks:

The bit about Trump offering advice about thing he knows nothing about struck me in particular when during the interview with Washington Post’s Philip Rucker, he commented on the structural integrity of an airplane on fire on TV:

I noticed that bit as well, and thought it was an under commented upon bit of buffoonery - Oh, you’re an aeronautical engineer now too? It’s all part of the show - can’t let one thing go that you’re not the expert on.

That should be the orange buffoon’s brand moto - **Trump: Consistently wrong but never in doubt. **

A friend on Facebook had one yesterday that I hadn’t seen before: the Mango Mussolini. NOTE: Apparently the Nightly Show has been using it.

I’m partial to Trumpster fire myself.

One of my facebook friends today used the expression “Dumb as a box of Trump”.

I’m still keen on “Ferret-Wearing Shitgibbon”.

The Sentient Cheeto.

I’ve been partial to Fat Don myself. It hits him in his narcissism, it has a mild mafia whiff to it, it mirrors the adjective-name style of nicknames that Fat Don’s partial to, while being short and punchy.

I just went over to Yahoo, and the top headline was “Trump drops in polls after brutal week,” with a picture of Fat Don looking downward.

My brain just saw the words “Trump drops…brutal week,” and I thought the sumbitch actually pulled the plug. I actually felt my stomach drop two inches inside me.
