A month ago, Trump calledfor the continuing boycott of Macy’s.
So much for his support of American jobs.
in January, he was gloating over the loss of 4,500 jobs.

Next we will be hearing Trump talk about how great the Gosudarstvennyi Universalnyi Magazin store is, and how he can’t wait to work with them to bring their fantastic shopping experience to the United States.
After being criticized for just picking a bunch of white guys named Steve as his economic advisers, Trump has named a woman - Betsy McCaughey, who has no economic background as was the inventor of the “death panels” canard, which Politifact picked as lie of the year.
Don’t try to interpret what Trump says, he says what he means.

When the Great Trump speaks, brothers and sisters, let us not dare to question the Word. The Great Trump is infallible when he speaks on matters Ex Cathedra.

Is it possible that Donny Two-Times doesn’t actually know what the word, “literal” means?
I’m guessing not. What I’m guessing by his, “I think everyone likes it,” comment, that he doesn’t give a shit if anyone takes him literally or not. It’s not the message that he’s concerned with - it’s the reaction to the message. That’s his product, that’s his “it” that everyone likes.
“Look at how many yokels are a-hootin’ and a-hollerin’ over it, so, yes, I mean he literally founded ISIS, if it means I get more hootins and hollerins.”
Yet Obama’s the one whose Christian faith is questioned? Clinton is the one who’s accused of, not just being un-Christian, but Satanic?
Or is this what Calvin meant by salvation of the elect?
Betsy McCaughey? I haven’t seen that name for a few years. She’s a paid shill who, at one time, was paid to mischaracterize the ACA. She pretty much disappeared from the public eye after the epic smackdown given to her by Jon Stewart when he had her on his show. If I recall correctly, she was fired from that job after his interview. If you haven’t seen it you should definitely check it out.

Strange indeed, considering that Loser Donald has previously told ushe’s lived a sinless existence.
I really, really do not know how these people can support a man who is so far removed from the Christian religion. Seriously, how on earth can they do it?
Emotion and/or political ideology trumping religious ideology. Evangelical leaders were firmly against Trump in the early days of the Republican contest ( mostly preferring Cruz ), but they or at least a majority of their flock seem to be resignedly embracing him despite his multiple divorces, sexual bragging, lack of church attendance, etc., etc…
Plus, a complete lack of a very basic understaning of Christianity. He doesn’t even pretend to be curious about it or learn how to “speak the language.”
He’s mocking their faith for crying out loud. For evangelicals, this is Trump standing on Fifth Avenue and shooting someone and not losing any votes.
How…secular.
So what these church leaders are effectively saying is that they are Right wingers first, Christians second. That the Republican (or Trumpian) policies take precedence over the bible.
I cannot think of a LESS Christian presidential candidate in… ever.
I’m sure that many evangelicals are far less pure inside compared to the facade they present.
NO!
One advantage of an unfalsifiable thought system is that you can simply declare ‘God has chosen Trump’ --and that’s pretty much the end of discussion.
Yes!
I love that! Thanks.
Yes, and over the past few decades I get the sense that more and more of the rank and file have transformed into “prosperity gospel” type people rather than Christians per se, although many of the leaders are still more into the actual Christian Bible. Prosperity gospel goes directly against the Beatitudes, of course.
And this is also why Trump’s Kryptonite (aside from all the stupid shit he constantly says) is to show he’s not really a billionaire. I keep hearing NPR interviews with Trump voters, and the most common thing I hear is “yeah, I don’t agree with most of the things he says, but he’s a billionaire and I think he’s going to do great things for the economy and bring back jobs”. Basically, it’s prosperity gospel. It’s more superstitious than they are really admitting: “His yuuge wealth is going to rub off on me if I vote for him.”
