There’s something I find especially galling, not so much about Trump but about the people who buy into his narrative of being a no bulshit politician who talks straight. He actually engages in as much or more cynical bullshittery than any politician you will find, but then he is willing to tell reporters that he has been doing so, without paying a political price. That type of candor doesn’t make him better than other politicians, it just makes him more contemptuous of his followers, and it makes them more dull-witted for continuing to follow him anyway.
Sorry man but this is very thin soup talking points, the thinnest kleenex covering for why to vote for Donald. Remember Hillarys foundation is charitable. Trumps company is for the benefit of Trump, as was Trump U, and everything else he has done and will do when in office. Do you believe he can change or that the media will rein him in? Why should we have to trust that they will anyway? You have just given us a list of things you are willfully overlooking.
I for one can’t wait for the glorious day when officers will finally be empowered to have a suspect kneel in the street and give them a fatal shot in the back of the head. This is the kind of ideal this Christian country was built on!
Sure, there’s lots of other reasons that I hope Trump beats Clinton. Specifically: taxes and border security come to mind at the moment. Free speech is another one.
Or were you referring to other SCOTUS issues? If so, we could talk about Kelo, or Citizens United
Everyone’s entitled to make their own value judgements about how much or little they think SCOTUS appointments matter. I happen to disagree with Ian Tuttle. I think it’s very significant.
I wonder how you square your value of Free Speech with the things that Trump has actually said? Just today, when Trump was asked what he would do to stop “people who are radicalized here.” Trump, in reply, said that “freedom of the press,” a protected constitutional right, was to blame.
As well as Trump’s previous statements, wherein he said that he wanted to loosen up libel laws to make it easier to go after news outlets that write nasty things about him.
How exactly will Trump help with “Free Speech”? Do you think he was just joking? Or that he’d only stifle free speech that you disagree with?
You’re very clearly wrong about this. Lots of things change on the gun rights front. For example, the Heller and McDonald decisions, shall-issue laws have swept the nation, and in Massachusetts the Attorney General just banned a whole slew of guns.
It can’t be done. Even if Hillary, ninety percent of the voting public, Congress, the Supremes were all in perfect harmony to Get Rid of Guns…it couldn’t be done. How many gun confiscation agents would have to be hired? How many doors would be politely knocked upon until someone opens fire? Will the agents be armed, authorized to return fire?
The question is absurd, it cannot be done, there are simply too damned many of the things. Even if she wanted to, she couldn’t do it. Worry about something more reasonable, like Cthulu.
I wonder how you justify your support of Trump when a recent analysis shows that:
federal revenue would fall by between $4.4 trillion and $5.9 trillion. So, in the absence of major, MAJOR cuts (to SS and medicare), this would lead to large deficits for the foreseeable future.
On a static basis, the plan would lead to 0.8 percent higher after-tax income for all taxpayer quintiles. The plan would lead to at least 10.2 percent higher incomes for the top 1 percent of taxpayers or as much as 16.0 percent higher, depending on the nature of a key business policy provision.
So you are willing to vote Trump to get 0.8 percent higher after tax income. Unless of course you are in the top 1percent of taxpayers, in which case you’ll get 10.2 to 16 percent higher income. If I am not in the top 1% of taxpayers then, I should probably not vote Trump, agreed?
Border security. So you’re a fan of “The Big Wall” then? Have you given a thought to the logistics of this? Do you believe (as Trump yells over and over) that Mexico will magically pay for it? If you agree that “The Wall” is simply a hyperbolic bit of speechifying that Trump likes to give, then what SPECIFIC policies of Trump lead you to believe he will be better at border security?
