Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

Ah, but here’s where your arguments runs smack dab into the Modern Republicans;

Actual Facts do not matter. They are inconsequential. For the modern Republican, facts are completely, utterly irrelevant to any political discussion. The only question will be: “Is Trump a part of our team? Is he running with (R) next to his name? Then we will support him, no matter what. Period. Full stop.”

And confronted with the facts, Trump will simply claim that he really has Eleventy billion trillion dollars in cash and all the gold in the world. And his fans will love it.

Trump was not really kidding when he said he could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone, and not lose voters. This is an accurate statement.

Tell me about it. Reagan would’ve killed for Teflon like this guy has.

Just watched a video of President Obama making a speech…

Couple of questions…

  1. Is it his fear of Trump that makes him stutter repeatedly, when he talks about “provocative tweets” or just a telemprompter malfunction?
  2. What is “okey-doke”? Is that some sort of ghetto slang?

You’ve never been subtle, have you?

An informative articleabout racists and anti-semites dogpiling on Jews online using (((echoes))). Much of it stems from Trump supporters.

[QUOTE=Mic.com]
According to Segal and other social-justice advocates who keep tabs on racist groups and hate speech, the jingoism of Trump’s presidential campaign has fueled this sort of harassment. Trump’s xenophobic and Islamophobic rhetoric and policy proposals have resonated with the rebellious, belligerent, flag-waving alt-right

“They’ve been on a tear,” Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center said in a phone call. “You can’t publish something about Trump right now and have any inclination of being Jewish without being trolled to hell.”

It doesn’t sound remotely as bad as when President Obama declared that he believes his own bullshit
I guess, the suprising part here is not that President Obama expects liberals and democrats (who are, admittedly, quite stupid) to believe his bullshit, but the realization that he, himself, believes his bullshit.
Worry not, folks, only 232 days until this okey-doke flushed down the commode of history…

Thanks for the links! Do they contain any references to President Obama repeatedly inviting open anti-semites, like Al Sharpton, to the White House?

Joined yesterday, did you? Welcome to the Straight Dope!

Uh, insulting many of the “folks” here is not conductive to a debate, just saying.

Uh, I think you made a mistake here, friend, and accidentally quoted my post, as opposed to the one above it, where many of the “folks”, such as modern republicans, were insulted. Surely, you’d agree that post wasn’t conductive to a debate? Just saying…

It is considered good form to reduce to print the parts of your argument that led to your conclusion. Preferably with quotations.

What did he say?

He said that he believes his own bullshit :confused:

That article was some pretty weak shit, to be honest. A 3 year old article complaining about Obama’s 2008 speeches? Wow… what a cite.

Anyway, this thread is, IIRC, about Trump and not Obama? I believe we have an “Obama and Divisiveness” discussion currently running, which may be a better home for this topic…

I believe the Pit is where you wanted to post this. Last forum down.

If you’re posting here, I presume you have something of interest to say about Donald Trump, who is the actual subject of this thread.

I see no insult in the post at all. Of course, I was able to read the article and your next post asking about the content of the links you thanked the poster for indicates this may be problematic for you to do at this time for some reason.

See, the article doesn’t say that all trump supporters are racists but that those that are, are causing more problems than usual. Since we’ve had racist groups openly endorse Trump this shouldn’t be any kind of shocker. It does leave a lot to debate though.

If it bothers republicans to be associated in this way with racists, I don’t know what to tell you. You lie down with dogs, you get fleas. That’s a cross they’ll have to bear. This is America after all. You can’t control who supports your candidate. The best you can do is ask yourself why your message resonates with racists( because believe me, others sure are going to ask themselves that fair or not ). That would be an excellent discussion. The same cannot be said about “…democrats (who are, admittedly, quite stupid) …”

Surely you know republicans aren’t real people.

I never knew that. It does explain a lot though. I’ll take your word for it; I have no evidence otherwise. Thanks for the insight.

Now, that being said, what do you suggest be done about the issue?

Debates and other wrangling will often include less than favorable comments about any number of people.
However, in this forum, such comments are to be directed only at third parties who are not participating in these discussions. Personal attacks against other posters are not permitted in Great Debates, (or elsewhere other than The BBQ Pit forum).

Damn!!! Anyone watching Reagan stutter and stammer around like that and at such a loss for words would swear he’d already developed Alzheimers.

Anyone inclined to give Obama a pass on that should be required to send $100 and a note of apology to Dan Quayle.
