Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

So Lying Sociopath Donald Trump has a released a video of people praising the work of Trump U. Red State, of all places, has post discussing the three people who appear in the video praising Trump U and what they learned there. Notably, none of the three people ever put their “lessons” into practice.

You’re welcome. Now what to be done with them? Is this a trap?

It’s a trap.

“If we, if we fall for, ya know, uh, uh, a buncha okie-doke. Just because it, eh, uh, you know, it, it ,uh. You know, uh it it it sounds funny or the tweets are provocative. Then we’re not gonna build the progess we started!”

Seriously, what is the okie-doke??

On another note, is anyone else excited about the real first lady coming back to the White House? One look at her, and you know she’s definetely using a lady’s restroom, unlike the current one.
Will she be the first non-American born first lady? (underlying strong pro-legal-immigrant stance her husband is taking)

That’s your best shot? You got nothing on the issues, so your fall back is to display your ignorance:

The Routledge Dictionary of Modern American Slang

Only times I’ve heard the term “okie-doke” used, it was as another way of saying okay, as in:

“Would you please pass the potatoes?”

“Okie-doke.”

It’s most illuminating to see how the great orator performs when deprived of his teleprompter. Probably best not to use urban slang when speaking to the entire country.

Red State is extremely hostile to Trump (as is Erick Erickson, the former editor), so I’m not surprised.

Transwomen are women and generally use the women’s restroom unless legally mandated to do otherwise by extremely stupid legislation. Not sure what this has to do with Michelle Obama, who is not transgendered, but I’m sure you’d be perfectly willing to give us a clear and rational explanation as to what you’re talking about.

Could you please expand on what you’re saying here? I’m curious as to what you’re getting at and why you think this way.

Why? Because it scares whitey?

It’s not a trap. I’m not waiting to exploit what you respond. I’ll admit to being curious though. It appears that you have made a 180 on the republican party; that was a really harsh statement that I’ve never seen anyone actually say ( no doubt it’s been said but never to me ). It sounds like something happened to sway your opinion.

It doesn’t really make me happy. Like I said, I’m not a partisan. I’ve been disappointed in those I support as well. It’s not fun feeling betrayed by those you support to be sure. It was easier in less partisan times since no one had to fear winning or losing an election would cause the end of the world as we know it. I’m happy if another partisan is starting to think more for himself, I’m not going to lie but I am empathetic to the process. It’s not fun.

So, no, I wasn’t trying to trap you but I was wondering where you were currently at. If you’re starting to call people non human it makes sense that you’d already gave some idea about what you’d do about that. It didn’t strike me as something someone would just say casually. If you haven’t, no biggie. I just found the change of opinion quite jarring and wondered if some of the latest Trump antics were having an effect on you or if there is more to it.

Jim Ignatowski was urban?

The irony of using whitey is that no white person would be offended as whites (even liberals) generally have a high level of self esteem when compared to other races. Yet, if you were to use a pejorative about another race, many might take offense. So the use of “whitey” is a form of white privilege in that it flaunts the ability of whites to be able to ignore name calling.

“Okie-doke” isn’t urban slang. If anything, it come from the redneck end of the spectrum.

I’m honestly surprised that some of the people here seem to have never heard of this phrase. I guess no one remembers the Hanna-Barbara cartoon Augie Doggie, or heard Patricia Arquette use the expression in True Romance.

I think it was a semi-off-the-cuff mocking of Sarah Palin’s “folksy” way of talking, dontchaknow, hopey-changey, okie-dokey then.

To be fair, getting to the point of sounding like a 3 year old article complaining about Obama is an improvement.

The irony of pointing that out belies your unfamiliarity with StarvingArtist’s use of the term “urban slang”, a white code word for black dialect. I used the black slang term “whitey” as a sarcastic rebuttal. As such, it does not imply white privilege, but mockery of a transparent dog whistle.

Whoosh.

Still, that “teleprompter” stuff is totally fresh.

A great Atlantic essay on how Trump has broken through every guardrail of American politics. One of the best pieces on the Trump phenomena I’ve read yet: Donald Trump and the Seven Broken Guardrails of Democracy - The Atlantic

I’m just flummoxed, baffled, totally bewildered. The right-wing (specifically, the ilk who post comments in online articles) latched on to “Obama uses a teleprompter!” in 2008, and refuse to let go. Despite overwhelming evidence that every president for the past 50 years has used a teleprompter…but then, facts don’t matter.
