My prediction is that more and more of the Republican candidates will start to walk back their Trump endorsements over the next month once they realise Trump is incapable of dialling back the crazy for the General election. Meanwhile Romney is pretty much endorsing Gary Johnson.
Once the GOP rats jump ship to try and prevent a massacre in the downticket races, and with Gary Johnson splitting the GOP voters, Trump is going to go down as the biggest political loser in US history. It’s going to be YUGE!
Do you know for a fact that she has purchased it? It forwards to her domain, but it’s registered anonymously so it could be anyone. I doubt that she appreciates being associated with that domain.
Trump’s problem is he can’t dial down his rhetoric cause his supporters will disown him. And he can’t tack to “the center” because he isn’t left or right to begin with. Everywhere and nowhere is not the center.
Hillary doesn’t have to move at all.
Trump has to continue to insult non-white demographic groups and Hillary at the same time, it’s going to be a non-stop insult machine for 5 months and every day that goes by, the closer he’ll get to stepping on a nuke.
Hillary can just stand there and play Johnny Carson to Trump’s Nixon, leading off her speeches with whatever he did yesterday, while also talking about other stuff.
I brought a lot of this up in post 845, but y’all somehow persist in making the mistake in thinking the NYT is a more reliable source than yours truly.
How is Google going to hide the Islamic terror attack in Orlando to protect Hillary’s presidential bid? A whole page and not one mention of how this is going to affect the election. Obama has made us vulnerable. He has blood on his hands. We were safe under Bush.
Wrong on so many levels. Were you aware that Bush was warned in August 2001 that bin Laden was determined to strike in the US and that the threat involved planes? Did you know 9/11 happened while Bush was supposedly president? Did you know Bush’s term started before 9/12/01? What makes you think Google is in the tank for Hillary? What makes you think Google can hide a news story? I’m sure Trump and other Republicans are jumping for joy at the attack in hopes that they can capitalize on the false meme that Republicans are tougher on terror than Democrats.
The only thing Republicans have going for them in a situation like this is that they’ll say anything to stoke fears and capitalize on that.
Expect more Trump threats to ban Muslims, surveil mosques, arrest Arabs. Expect more right-wing-nut threats to “strike back” if anyone even dares to whisper about common-sense gun control. Rinse. Repeat.
Obama isn’t running this year. What makes you think the self-absorbed con artist has the slightest idea how to protect Americans from terror? What’s he going to do - call them losers and threaten to sue them?

If the shooter was White and presumed Christian would there a rush to call this Christian Fundamentalist Terrorism? Or to claim it was independently inspired “self-radicalizaton” by Trump’s rhetoric? What if you found that he want to a fundamentalist church and frequented sites that preached that the United States is Christian country being over-run by gays and Hispanics and that Christians need to take their country back? Would this be immediately called “terrorism” or the act of an insane individual with easy access to serious weaponry?
Right now the facts are unfolding. No question that no tragedy will be left unexploited for potential political profit. But holding off for a few hours, at least until there is something more than speculations and political drooling on yourself … really not too much decency to ask for.
Meanwhile, Pearl Clutching Provocateur, why, exactly, do you think Trump is the better choice when it comes to terrorism than Clinton? Trump has shown quite extensively that he does not understand terrorism or counterterrorism. He has delusions of grandeur, that “getting tough” will solve our problems. What’s more, he’s hated by pretty much all of our allies - allies we rely on to feed us information and help coordinate counter-terrorism efforts. He also has exactly zero foreign policy experience. By comparison, Clinton has more foreign policy experience than almost anyone alive in Washington today. She was the secretary of state under the Obama administration, where they got Osama Bin Laden and didn’t experience a single significant successful terrorist attack. Why in god’s name would you consider Trump a better choice to defend us from terrorism? Because he’s willing to say the magic words, and is willing to be a sadistic psychopath?
No really. In your words, why would Trump be better on Terrorism than Clinton? Because he’s an asshole?
