Absolutely agree and I’m glad you started this thread apologising for calling someone a minx and recognising you shouldn’t have been so dismissive and belittling.
There’s far too few people with the capacity for self reflection you have shown. Bravo.
I think nothing of the sort. Because behavior is common on the internet doesn’t make it good. And there are multiple ways of “asking about an attractive lady”, not all of which are skeezy. There is nothing “subtle” about the condescendingness of calling her a “minx.”
Plus which, again, you then proceeded to get furious about somebody calling you “bud”. It is extremely common for people to get called much worse things on the internet. You can’t use the commonness of behavior to defend your own behavior and claim that it doesn’t defend the behavior of the person who called you “bud”, even if you are somehow claiming that calling someone “bud” is the same thing as calling them a child. Which it isn’t, by the way.
The real point here is that you’re claiming some sort of weird double standard in which you can call people whatever you want but you are nevertheless entitled to complain about what they choose to call you. Doesn’t work that way, bud.
I getcha OP. The poster was being a condescending ass to ya. It’s not about the specific word. But this is the Pit, and they take their rants seriously here, and you’re gonna get roasted if they think your frustration isn’t for a good enough reason.
Only reason to post something like that here is to get the fun snarky replies back, ^^
I’m not serious when I snark at the OP about calling someone a “minx” - it’s far from the worst thing to call someone, heck I knew a few people who would regard it as a compliment.
It’s just amusing to tease someone who is so lacking self awareness as to reference someone in a slightly condescending way, then get all shitty because someone else does the same back.
I do fear the irony is lost on some. Of course its silly to be so put off by such a simple remark, thats why it is a pit thread. I got ridiculously offended by something silly because sometimes thats how brains work. I really do love mining for snark.
