Don't call me bud, bud

Of course.

I want to know if these would be star-bellied smeeches or those with none.

ISTM that both “minx” and “coquette” evoke a sense of active behavior (on the part of the subject of the soubriquet) that tends to invite (or inspire) a libidinous response. I have difficulty associating such active behavior with a static image.

More succinctly, the tone of your original inquiry conveyed a sense of objectification that I may not have been the only one to have found “creepy.”

Bud.

Yeah, I agree. Certainly, there are photographs where the goal is clearly to draw attention of a sexual nature. The description the OP gave was a headshot of a woman smiling. To me, that does not qualify.

I knew I wouldn’t get here fast enough to say this. Except, not sad. Unless eyes become sad rolling up in one’s head.

Me too! Turtles are fine.

You said it not me, charlie.

“I Pit people who point out how creepy I can be.”

You certainly weren’t the only one.

Ahhh! Vicious.

As stated earlier, the comment was well within the board culture on the place where originally posted. Admittedly it was not an appropriate comment for any kind of normal or polite setting. Somehow it hurts less being called b** when it is in a line of its own as opposed to appended onto another sentence.

How perspicacious of you! Well done.

And … once again … perspicuity perspicacity rears its ugly head.

[fixed]

Perspicacity.

GAH!

I fat-fingered that one.

But I meant well.

ETA: I’m surprised I made that particular error, too. I always remember perspicacity as the one who played Keith Partridge.

You posted it here, though.

And why on earth would that be “within the board culture” but you got all het up about “bud”? You think “board culture” means you get to call other people skeevy names but nobody gets to call you anything at all? “Bud” isn’t even rude; but if it were, bud, that’s not how impolite settings work.

(checks forum) You’re being a jerk.

Lighten up, Francis.

We have now conclusively proven that a Francis’s quack echoes. But only lightly.

Waiting for the Pit thread that has gripes about how they use bad grammar on Stormfront.

Doesn’t get you far, mate

If you think that asking about an attractive lady is somehow extremely uncommon on the internet, have I got some news for you!

The real point here is that some people have very subtle and simple ways of being extremely condescending. Somehow this person was able to do that just by dismissing the question (clearly not out of any sense of decency) and by calling someone a child, all in one short reply.

I would gladly have taken a reply chastising me over my grammar or subject matter over a reply dismissing and belittling.

I am very impressed with this thread.
