Yup.
Even Sam Stone and Gorgonzola.
Those with a cool, ironic intelligence, a crisply witty style and a profound grasp of probity are mine. The ones that reflect the unfortunate enthusiasm of the testosterone afflcited are not.
And I almost always misspell “their”.
(I am resolved to inquire of the firm of Green and Howe, Esq.s as to the complications involved with disownment.)
I trust, given your past history of benign consideration for Yours Truly, that your inquiry is another example of your droll wit.
’lucy:
I have to say, I’ve been impressed by your boy’s intelligence, his wit, his literacy and his political acumen.
However…
I see from his sig line that he may have inherited your own rather unfortunate prediliction for bad puns. I never knew it was gentic. Let’s hope he just got a mild case.
Genetic. I never knew it was genetic.
I’d say it’s more like Godfather I and Godfather II. Both are excellent with novel aspects that highly recommend them, but one ends with Fredo taking one in the noggin.
Dio, you bastard! You know you’re just pumping his ego to make him insufferable!
I’ll get you for this, I swear it.
I meant a precedent for elucidator. Now whenever we see his screenname, we can’t be sure if it’s him or his son.
Anyway, I think the Mods/Admins should consider making a rule on this, or at least a clarification. Should posting as another user, including family members, be allowed? One time maybe, twice, eh, three times, no.
this was extensively covered in our last meeting of the “Looney Left of the SDMB taking over the world next, but don’t tell milroyj” (the name keeps changing to reflect the times and to confuse the guilty). our plan seems to be working quite well.
In other words, there are several well known posters who have spouses/housemates etc who often mistakenly post under the other screen name (odd that you didn’t recall Jersey Diamond/ Joe_Cool doing this quite frequently, isn’t it?) generally what happens is what happened here - the poster sees what they’ve done and reposts saying ‘oops’. So far, for several years and quite a few posters with this issue, it’s really not seemed to have been a problem that staff has noted. (to the best of my knowledge).
Of course, you could use the ‘report this post’ feature, as was suggested to you by Lynn the last time you were concerned over liberal postings.
If you would like to compare the posting habits of JerseyDiamond/Joe_Cool to those of elucidator/Weird with Words, I’m not going to argue with you!
If the latter duo is as smart as they think they are, they should be able to at least post under their own usernames, right? But I guess we’ll never know.
You really want to see me use " " don’t you?
Just what, exactly, is your problem here, buttmunchkin?
Dear gawd, I just got that sig line. (Yes, I’m slow. My wife hasn’t complained yet.)
That boy deserves a thorough beating with a wet noodle.
Oh, well, this all just dandy.
And I thought this thread was supposed to be about me.
Yeesh. I can’t even be pitted in peace.
Do you need me to wipe your ass too after you’re done in the little boys room? Sheesh.
All right, here’s your rule. Unless blatantly clear because of other evidence, family members accidentally posting as their spouse/brother/sister/parent/child is a matter of non-intended incidents.
As you’ll notice, most of the times someone accidentally posts with the wrong user ID, they’ll quickly log out and back in under their own name to clarify.
It is not exactly rocket science. I fear to think of what we’re supposed to clarify next.
I found this in a vanity search. (At least I restrict my vanity searches to the crack of dawn.
I always sign my name to the bottom of my posts. This pre-dates my meeting Airman, but it’s still a good thing. Since he doesn’t sign his posts “Robin”, it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s me posting under Airman’s name. We’re trying to figure out a better solution.
Robin
I dunno, who’s actually posting, you or Weird With Words?
You see, we can’t be sure now.
What difference does it make? You’re a buttmunchkin either way.
Hey, how can we tell that’s really milroyj posting, and not some hopelessly stupid asswipe? Oh, wait, that’s right - same thing.
Jeez. I’ve accidentally posted under my wife’s name a couple of times. It’s incredibly easy to do - if she comes in an uses the computer, the local cookie will be set to her account. Unless you notice the account name (and by now I pretty much tune it out as visual noise - and it’s not that prominent anyway), it’s very easy to accidentally post as that person.
It’s also no big deal, as long as the person involved clarifies who is who at the first opportunity.
The only way to avoid this little ‘problem’ (which isn’t a problem anyway, if you ask me) would be to move to ‘session cookes’ which are deleted every time the browser is closed. And that would be a royal pain in the ass for everyone.
