Don't MAKE ME do the MMP for you....

I’m already onto the whole Cost Plus candy aisle scheme, friends. Oh yes, I’ve had some good stuff from them.

But I try not to go overboard. I have my girlish figure to keep an eye on.

Lordy, if I had to give up my microwave, I think I would fling myself off the roof.

I have an excuse for not checking in yesterday. I can bring a note if that’s necessary. We were in Orlando spending our last day in FL with our daughter. We got to see her new apartment, hang some curtains, and install some shelves.

Our Christmas was OK, once BIL and family got their buns in gear and showed up. They were expected around 9:30. They arrived just before noon. So instead of doing gifts then eating, we ate first, then had to rush thru gifts because daughter and bf had to leave for his mother’s around 3. I have issues about BIL, not the least of which is that he’s a racist, narrow-minded PITA, but I’m not going to give him any more thought.

For the record, the new boyfriend is cute, smart, and (as she puts it) a gamer nerd. He’s got a quick wit and a steady job - much better than the last bf!

Anyway, we left Orlando about 4:30 this morning, and we got to the house by 6:30 this evening. We stopped for 2 meals, 2 fuel stops, and 2 pit stops. The doggie is with us now, and she’s crashed on the floor. We’ll get the cat back from my sister tomorrow or the next day.

Our NYE plans will be the same as past years - TV and early to bed. woohoo! Yes, we are party animals… :stuck_out_tongue:

If I lived anywhere near Florida, I’d say it’s entirely possible that Perfect Daughter and I share a boyfriend. But then that would make him a cad. Maybe I’ve found his long lost older brother.

Wow, the guys in the Sig Ep house are going to be bummed now that the nightly show is over.

Nah, Shibb, they were sheers… :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s a welby?

What’s a Welby?

Hell, I may as well just quit right now.

Okay. We saw I, Robot, Hero, Collateral(sp?) and* Manchurian Candidate.*

I, Robot ‘suggested by’ the works of Isaac Asimov, does contain robots, has a character named Susan Calvin, and does talk about the 3 laws of robotics, and did I mention it has robots? No other connection to Dr. Asimov’s work was noticed. Standard, formulaic fare, It was okay, but not as good as it could be. C to C+

Hero - Some really stuning photography, a somewhat tortured but followable plot. lots of close-ups of Jet Li doing a Clint Eastwood impression. Acting was workmanlike. C+

Collateral - Mostly excellent, great acting, some semi-graphic violence, Reccommended. B+ to A-

Manchurian Candidate - good actors, a recognizable plot, Doesn’t quite pull it all off. B- to B.

Later.

BumbaEbert

Oceans Twelve - Don’t bother. (if you want more than just a sentence, you should know that it’s just a bunch of people trying to be cooler than each other, and we get to see Brad Pitt repeatedly talk with his mouth full, which IMHO is not a selling feature)

Actually, Ashes[sup]2[/sup] I think that was ACBG you landed on. I wondered why he gave off that loud grunt in his sleep. MMMM… chicory coffee! I loves me some coffee loaded up with chicory. That’s why I specially like Luzianne coffee. And you are right, hot wings are not breakfast food. They don’t go well with coffee. They are obviously a beer food. One shouldn’t have beer for breakfast either. You just shouldn’t. Not that I ever have. No, not me. Not even when I was in college. Nope. Never did that.

I have three crock pots, small, medium and large. I also have lots and lots of stuff like three roaster ovens, and two veggie steamer thingies. Also I have a lot of very large pots and stainless steel mixing bowls. They reside in a storage building and I go get whatever ones I need when I need em. This Friday two of the mixing bowls, one of the large pots, the large crock pot and the electric fryer shall be brought into the kitchen. Their presence is required for New Year’s Day dinner making. Speaking of which, ACBG told me last night in the grocery store, that I had gone officially nuts. See, I was pawing all through the collard greens to find the perfect two bunches. His comment? “Ok, that’s it. You are now officially nuts! Just buy the dang greens already.” My reply? “You ain’t seen nuts til you see me puttin’ all this together for dinner.” His reply? “Oh Hell!” Something tells me he ain’t looking forward to this.

I got my big crock pot back from my daughter. She didn’t anticipate using it and there was a little space left in the car, so I took it back. We’ve got a little one, but it isn’t good for a whole meal. Now I’ve got a side-dish crock pot and a whole-meal crock pot. I think there’s a roast in the freezer…

I kid you, ex. Just seein’ if I could rattle his cage.

fcm, for some reason when I read your post I started hearing the old Crosby Stills and Nash song. Our house is a very, very, very nice house. With** a cat and a dog*** in the yard, blah biddy blah*.

swampy’s havin’ sleepovers. swampy’s havin’ sleepovers.

Anybody else besides me think that the Jeopardy guy, Ken Jennings , bears an incredible resemblance to the I-Robot robot?

Nah, I think he looks (and sounds) a lot more like him. (The one on the left, of course)

So I’m working on a new project with one of our interns, and it involves sitting together in my none-too-large cube so we can both see my computer’s monitor. Nothing wrong with that. However, the intern is the boss’s VERY cute 18-year-old son. VERY bad, considering the thoughts that keep running through my head. It’s going to be a long day…

Tuppy sleepovers is one of ACBG’s main purposes. There will be three nights worth of sleepovers this week beginning Thursday night.

FCM see, that’s why you need a medium size crock pot. Right now, as I type, there is a small roast with some taters and carrots in it cookin’ away at home. When I come home from work there shall be roast beef with carrots and taters in a nice gravy for supper. All I gotta do is reheat some already made cornbread. MMMMMMMMMMMM!!! ACBG and I shall devour most of this and there will be some leftover for lunch tomorrow. A medium size crock pot is just right for two people. FRT, it’s a two quart size crock pot.

Or, to put it in English, FTR it’s a two quart crock pot. :smack:

Well, at least you didn’t say crack pot.

Speaking of which, I was glad to learn that one can easily replace the crock when one accidentally drops said crock, full of hot, soapy water, on the kitchen floor. :o

swampy, are we the only ones left???

No.

Apparently then, I have a small and a medium crock pot. And my birthday is less than a month away. Wonder if I’ll get a large one to complete the set???

And I’ve got a lovely beef stew (actually, more like beef-veggie stew) crocking away. All I need is a bread maker so we could have fresh bread with the stew. Also a thoughtful birthday gift.

I’m just sayin’…
