Yeah, I completely agree that
implied I was pitting the entire state. But on behalf of Alabamians, fags and others in my demographic, I accept your “fuck you” and raise you an “and the mother you rode in on”.

No, you only get that when you’ve converted your third adolescent and or straight guy. (It used to be "when you’ve converted your third straight Protestant minister, but that was way too easy.)
There should merit badges for gays: Decorating, Show Tunes, Menage, Foam Party, First-Maternal-Suicide-Threat-over-your-Condition, Flower Arranging, etc…
I heartily agree with your assessment of Cameron and Talton, and your robust “fuck-you” aimed at the legislature of Texas (such as it were). I didn’t invite these people into my native state of Texas and I want nothing more than to kick them out on their arses. Things were pretty good once, and they’ve literally gone to hell now. I’m so sad to see what’s become of my home state. Texas is now a punchline, and it hurts my heart to see it happen.
I’m a minority in my state. A complete anomaly. I lined up to vote even though I knew Dubya had my state lock, stock and barrel. Bastard. He screwed us locally and now screws us worse from afar.
I’m just as sick and tired of it as you are. I get to watch it all from a front-row seat, living in the capitol area as I do. I hate seeing in the news how the Texas legislature plans to fuck the non-religious right citizenry that day. I hate the blatant pandering to the religious fanatics who never seem to get enough control to make themselves happy. I hate the obvious corruption at the capitol. They don’t even attempt to put up smokescreens anymore. They pass crappy laws aimed at pleasing their corporate buds and right-wing uber-Christian fanatic voting base, and boy, does it suck the big one.
At least we might have a shot in getting one of these fuckers kicked out in 2006. The gubernatorial race is already on for '06 and while I hate to admit there probably won’t be any viable blue or indie contenders, at least the challengers who have already lined up are more moderate - think lesser of the current evil-in-office.
Sampiro, I’m with you, really. Honest-to-gosh-darn all, I’m with you. I may be a Texan but that doesn’t mean I cotton to what these jackasses have done and are doing to my state and to the good people in it.
See a friendship in our SDMB future?
I’m a little confused. I live in Texas and I have a toaster oven however, I am hetro. Where does that put me?
I’d like to point out that I am a resident alien so I can’t vote these idiots out of office, and by the same token I didn’t vote them in.
Anyway, it absolutely doesn’t matter whether or not a child raised by an homosexual is more likely to become homoseual himself.
If we admit that there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality at the first place, then why would it matter if 90% of the kids raised by gays would become gay too?
Many people believe there is something wrong with homosexuality, so debunking the “children raised by gays are more likely to be gay” statistic is necessary to get the support of those people who think it’s wrong but don’t think it should be a barrier to adoption.
I am a recovering Texan who left the hellish place in 1963. I thought then that it was too right-wing, too radical, too racist, too bible-thumping, too hypocritical and much too oppresive for a free thinking individual who saw no reason to discriminate against anyone regardless of race, creed, color, or national origin. It often seems to me that the place has gone downhill since that time.
I knew many good people there; people who were kind, decent, and accepting of others. In fact, those people were in the majority among my friends. And yet, Texas continually turns out some of the worst politicians imaginable; who perpetrate some of the worst idiocies imaginable. I’ve concluded that there must be something in the water, or maybe it’s just the heat.
Yeah. Take me twice and call me in the late morning for brunch.
You live in Texas and are outraged at us instead of your batshit insane and bigoted politicians.
Of course it fucking makes sense to you, you fucking tool.
And you don’t live in Texas and yet you are outraged at us instead our batshit, insane and bigoted politicians.
I guess it makes perfect sense to you, you fucking tool.
I never said I was outraged at the populace, you incorrectly inferred that.
Of course, with a state that wontonly controls textbooks to reflect whatever insanity they want to foist upon the populace, it’s not surprising that your reasoning skills are faulty.
On the other hand, many Texans put Cameron and his bigoted ilk there. They do deserve equal ire.
I’ve lived in Texas for over 20 years and I’m equally outraged.
I’ve fired over letters to my representatives to let them know how disgusted I am by this legislation.
However, like adam yax I wish that some of y’alls collective ire was directed at our batshit crazy politicians instead of all the citizens of the state.
I know that I personally didn’t vote for any of them and will do everything within my power to remove them from office come 2006.
And a really hearty fuck you on this. I am not from Texas. I just live here.
And maybe you should take a closer look at your own reasoning skillz. You responded to Kearse - to a post he directed at Sampiro because Sampiro had basically gone after the whole state.
So, you are choosing to be an idiot and interpret things so you can be offended.
Then go fuck yourself.
There, that way you can feel directly offended rather than being offended by reflected fury.
No shitforbrains - I am choosing to do to you what you have done to Kearse.
Tell me Mockingbird, how much time have you actually spent in Texas? How much do you really know about about people who live here? Other than the fact that this state produces more than its fair share of idiot politicians it seems you know nothing about the decent folks who are outraged by this or who are, for the most part are charitable and friendly. I also think you don’t care. After all it is easier for you when you only have to carry that one jumbo sized brush, isn’t it?
Don’t be silly! He also has to carry that giant chip on his shoulder. Balances out the weight of the brush on the other side, ya know…
I sort of want to know what a Foam Party might be, but I am sort of afraid to Google it.
A foam party is where you close off a room at a discotheque, wheel in a big soap-bubble canon, fill the room to chest depth with foam, put on loud techno music, and invite in a whole passel of gay men in bathing suits or less.
I won’t ask exactly what happened in 1963 that made you think it might be a good time to leave Texas (though I will ask if you ever see your fellow hobos?).
OK then. I thought it would involve group shaving. That would be twisted.
