Don't tell anybody. A Big Secret MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90 for the day and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. The weather PTB got that right yestiddy so maybe they’ll get it right again today. The rain is needed down heah.

Rio congrats! Like Nettie said, we need pics to ooh and ahh over.

Not a whole lot on the agenda this mornin’. I may do some cave spiffin’. Or not. That’s the joy of retirement. I can, and probably should, but don’t have to if’n I don’t want.

OK that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. I should also purtify a bit I reckon.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Nine piles of cat puke this morning and a really stinky poo. Hairballs are to blame.

I kinda got a seekret. I am thinking about shareboarding the horse I’ve been taking lessons on. It’s just in the thinking phase. My beloved Bob crossed the bridge almost 3 years ago and I never thought I would get to the place of thinking of making an equine a permanent part of my life.

And Rio, WTF? You know the rule. This thread is useless without pictures.

I went with Roomie to the seamstress last night and began the alterations process on her wedding dress, as well as the extensive shortening process on my MoH dress. Then I went home and collapsed, because apparently I had a fever most of the day yesterday. I probably still do. So tired.

Happy Toosday!

It’s a cool 76 outside, supposed to go up to 85.
It got nice and cool last night, I should have opened the windows. It’s supposed to go down into the 60s at night the rest of this week.

Congrats Rio!

We have butterflies in the wild flower patch. The patch is a shaggy mess, but it’s attracting butterflies, which is a good thing. Now that I know the seed mix grows well, I’ll expand the patch into a garden next year. I’m going to look into planting some milkweed too.

Nothing like getting spammy calls at work. I really don’t automatically assume someone with an accent on the phone is a scammer. Over the years, I’ve worked with lots of folks with accentsand since our company had foreign customers, there’s always that possibility. But this guy was phishing. He asked for “Florence Smith” in our “computer department.” I checked the company directory - no Florence Smith. Then he asked me if I knew anyone in our “computer department” and when I said no, he asked for a manager. At that point, I said no and hung up. He didn’t call back, so I’m pretty sure I had him pegged.

On the plus side, when I hung up with him, I saw it was lunch time, so yay!

Congrats, Rio!! And may I say from the bottom of my heart, better thee than me! I enjoyed parenthood, but at my age, the thought of a baby living with me full time is less than exciting. I expect to see photos of your spawn post haste!!

Busy morning with more to come. I can’t wait till Oct 22!!

Congrats on the kiddo, rio! And I want to see pics too.

{{{drae}}}

As I have almost everything caught up now, I think I’ll put in for a PTO day tomorrow to wrap up loose ends.

Tugig Yay on the house! The rest of us have spent the summer posting every detail of our moves. You are the model of reticence.

Rio A baby! Congratulations. Pictures and further details appreciated. I understand why you haven’t been around much. The first 6 months tend to be a blur.

Yesterday I got a all from an “insurance” company that turned out to be a scam. They stated that my call had been involved in a red light hit and run, with a fatality. I’m certain that they would have asked me for money, but I asked too many questions and then called the police myself. I was shaking and felt ill. The police were very nice and checked all kinds of databases on the car and all kinds of databases on the date in question. No hit and run fatalities. Not that my car was involved in such a thing, but I wanted to make sure there wasn’t a warrant out for my car. I then tried to file a complaint against the company and the police said they didn’t know how to do that for a phone scam. So now I have to figure that out. I think I’ll go post a question in IMHO.

Today the house is staged and pictures are taken. Tomorrow it is officially listed. Almost there!

My sister and her kids are coming over today and we’re swimming one last time in the cement pond. Should be fun.

Congrats Rio! Where is pictures to squee at?

On another note:
To whom it may concern;

I am thoroughly unimpressed by today’s weather. This August, so far, is unsatisfactory, and does not meet the expected standard of ‘summer’. Unless it improves in terms of temperature and lack of precipitation soon, I shall demand a refund.

Yrs sincerely,
Disgusted of Bristol.

That’ll show them!

Home. I stopped and got some green beans, cukes, black berries, and a cantaloupe from my favorite Amish stand. But **FCD **doesn’t want supper, so we’ve got goodies for tomorrow. I’ll just eat some watermelon and grapes or something.

Tahred…

Fine.
I’ll just sit in the dark and eat grapes.

Howdy Y’all! Today I did spiff up the cave a bit. I also spent some quality time at the cee-mint pond. Dindin has been ingested and all is well. I have a whole chikin plus some chikin boobs defrostin’ as I post. At some point tomorrow I shall throw them in a slow cooker. Come Thursday they will become chikin sallit. Come Firday mornin’ they shall become chikin sallit sammiches to take over to the church house to feed the bereaved after the memorial service for a long time member of the church who shall be plopped down in the Columbarium. One gets to do all kinds of innerestin’ stuff once one retires.

swampy, while he wasn’t retired, a friend who used to work weekends (with weekdays free) used to do a lot of volunteer work with veterans’ organizations as a pall bearer for military funerals (he was a USN vet) for those who didn’t have six people still able to serve in that capacity.

Maybe you’ll be the casserole angel of death in south Jawja!

Tugig, congrats on the house. It’s good to know that it’s possible to buy a house and stay sane.

Today, I managed to walk about a mile on the sidewalk. I went from my house to the post office and back. This is the first time I’ve been able to do this since the whole tendon debacle started. It wasn’t the best idea ever - my ankle hurts like hell - but it was worth it. I think. I’ll let you know in the morning.

My mother doesn’t want anyone to know, and swore me to secrecy, that when we were visiting the family grave site 50 years ago, she backed the car into another family’s gravestone and knocked it off its plinth.

I was able to reset it, but OMG if anyone ever finds out!

(well, they’re all dead now, so maybe it’s not much of a secret anymore)

Well, yes, but if they come back…

I’ve had a sloth-y day ,as my sinuses are bothering me. I did clean the bathroom, nd pick up some groceries, though. Maintenance had to come today, the condensation line in the A/C overflowed and semi flooded the other side of the apartment. I’d say this building is on an ancient Indian burialground, but the cemetary is actull 2 blocks down from the complex.
red, except we don’t want people wailing and gnashing their teeth every time they see swampy pull into their driveway. Let’s leave that for whenFlytrap drops by.:D;)

Marion_Wormer, sounds like Poltergeist “You only moved the headstones!” And welcome to the MMP. we can call you Flounder"

And congrats to Rio! Pics, or it didn’t happen!

It is the algae that grows on sloths.

Stick one of these up your nose, and scrub vigorously.

I did something amusing this afternoon.

You may or may not know that on August 20, 2017(just over a year!!!) there will be a total eclipse of the sun visible across most of North America. The arc of totality runs from the northwest US and exits into the Atlantic from South Carolina. Here in Topeka we will not see totality but I plan on driving north to visit friends in southern Nebraska to view the eclipse.

That’s not that far of a drive so early in the morning my mom and I plan on going up. We won’t need a room in a motel, but what if we did?

Forget about it. I googled hotels and motels in the area and they are all full up already. I imagine it’s the same all across the US, rooms in that strip are gone. It was amusing to see. I heard that about five years ago, before I ever heard about the eclipse, hotels along totality started getting reservations for that day and wondered “What the heck is going on?” I imagine by now local municipalities are promoting it, with watch parties and such.

Today in Kansas we are gently poaching in the humidity. Even ***my ***appetite is supressed. I took the dog to the vet and he got some shots, and tried to sniff the clinic’s cat. It’s sweetened tea for supper.

Here is a Google page for eclipse sites.
