dOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOplahoma!!!! (rhymes w/Oklahoma and sung like the song)

Hey Oklahoma Dopers!

OK (pun intended), I’ve been a SDMB’er for almost 3 years now and I’ve never met any other Dopers. I figger it’s time. What do ya’ll say to a meeting of the Oklahoma contingent? I’m in Tulsa but would be willing to go most anywhere (except the panhandle. Does anyone even really live out there?). I suppose we could be neighborly and invite bordering states to come as well.

I admit, I know nothing about hostessing so if we were to meet somewhere that would be great. Actually, I’m not that great at organizing period but I’ll give it my best shot (and if this thing would just fall together, that would be great). Anyway, I’m putting feelers out to see who would be interested and when. Let’s see what comes together…
Cheers!
mmm…

Another Tulsanite here, open to this idea.

Sounds like fun. I live in Oklahoma City, but I could probably go to Tulsa if it’s on a weekend.

I’m in the city, but I’ll drive the hour to T-Town.

Work and weather are my biggest considerations, as I have some more out of state jobs coming up. March would be good. Feb might work, but I hate to leave jobs unattended even for a weekend, and I have three big ones all going at the same time for the next month or so. Still, I’ll be flexible for you guys.

There are some nice bars/clubs/restaurants in Tulsa that can be a good meeting place. In OKC, there’s Bricktown. Stillwater has Eskimo Joe’s and other chain restaurants (including a newly remodeled Sirloin Stockade :stuck_out_tongue: ).

What’s the name of that fantastic Mexican restaurant out there in Tulsa? Mexacali Border Cafe. It’s not a chain. It’s on a hill, near the south side (I think). And the Cherry Street area? Something there that strikes your fancy? Kilkenney’s Irish Pub, Hideaway, Bourbon Street Cafe…

If I miss this thread again, e-mail me. And thanks to viva for pointing it out to me.

Almost makes me wish I were back in Tulsa again. (It’s been almost six years since I left.)

Boy, oh boy, do I miss the resturants…especially Chimis, Knotty Pine BBQ, Rex’s Fried Chicken, Big Al’s… bwwaaaahhhhhh!

<sob> Have a good time, guys.

El Chicos…St. Micheal’s Alley…Sonic…

<sob>

The more I think about actually meeting some of you, the more I’m determined to make it happen. One weekend away from work ain’t gonna kill me. It ain’t like the houses are just gonna fall apart or catch fire either. Just tell me where and I’m there!

The reason Tulsa sounds good is because there ain’t nuthin’ out west of the City untill you get to Amarillo, while T-Town allows for Arkansas and southern Mizzou Dopers to make it (hopefully).

You Arkies up for it? Canivorousplant, Homebrew, Aesiron (and any others)?

Depending on when, I can drive in from Stillwater. But we’re going to be moving into a new place this month so I’m not going to have a lot of free time.

Iyou were any other man, I would kill you where you stand for confusing me with an Arkansas native. We Tennesseans don’t have much to be proud of but we have some standards.

Besides that, I’m living in Nebraska now and have a whole $60 to my name with no job yet so it’s a bit expensive and out of the way. Otherwise, I’d be up for it.

That should say “If you were any other man…”

Tulsa’s a bit out of my way, but I’ll be there in spirit.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but is anyone still interested in doing this?
