I totally forgot that my mother’s birthday is Thursday, Nov 1st!
I was smoking a cig with her and mentioned that “someone’s birthday is coming up soon!” meaning my Golden Retriever Ollie, who turns five on Nov 4. And she was like, “Oh, I thought you forgot!” And I said, “No I’d never forget Ollie!” Her face fell…and then I remembered! I think I played it off, though.
I have $40 sacked away for this shindig…and $20 to get me through the week gas-wise. Obviously, I need to buy my mom a present.
I’m so sorry! I have absolutely got to buy her a nice present or she’ll never forgive me. She really thinks I forgot, and she knows my money situation, so if I go to this and don’t get her anything or make her something, she’ll be really hurt. 
I suck.

While I am not the closest thing to Sara geographically (damn my luck!!! Damn it!), I have little to no problem with picking her and her other partygoers up wherever is reasonably convenient for both of us.

At any rate, Sara, where are you coming from? I’m sure there’s still a very good chance of me picking you up, unless you’re coming from NY or something, which I highly doubt. All other offers - to cover you for what you want to bring - obviously still stand (Hey, Canajuns got a rep for bein’ nice!) For some reason, Baltimore is coming to mind.

Hi Jonathan! The Bluesman/Lucretia clan is all excited about out trek to your wonderful abode in the mountains tomorrow (well, all except for #1 son…he’d rather put on BDU’s and practice bandaging members of his CAP squadron…kid has no sense of priorities), but I had one request/suggestion that if it’s too late to do is perfectly fine, don’t worry about it one bit.
Bluesman and I were waxing nostalgic last night about gluwein, the mulled wine that is popular in Bavaria starting around this time of year, and saying how nifty it would be if you had some at your party…sooo, any chance of a hot spiced wine of some sort making an appearance? I know it’s late notice, and all, so if you can’t no problem, but if you could, well, that’d be really swell.
