Although she refuses to register, Mrs. Cheek insists that I post right now, so she can put in a couple of comments (I’m not gonna get banned for havin’ a sock, am I?) But first, I get to add my own happy comments:

To Jonathan Chance, many, many, many thanks for the party, the invitation, and the free food. The Diet Coke was above and beyond, but greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Zappo for the ride to and from the hotel. You’ll note that the inside of your car is a pristine as before, solid proof that no one “yawned” anywhere near it. However, you lose points for introducing my wife to the outlet malls. :wink:

'Twas wonderful meeting all the Dopers in person, those I hadn’t met before: Sara(You’re welcome!), moi, that_darn-cat, Neidhart, Geobabe, Lucretia, Bluesman, Airman Doors, Miss Robyn, John Corrado, Weirddave, gobear, iampunha, those I had met before: dcnewsman, Montfort, Anniz and RTFirefly. If I missed anyone, please feel free to mention it in the Pit. :slight_smile:

And much gratitude to the non-Dopers who nonetheless helped to make it a wonderful time, particularly Lady Chance and the little Chanclet (or perhaps Opportunity?)

Thanks again to the Chances for a wonderful time and outstanding hostfullness. Besides meeting my husband, this was the first time I’ve attended an event where so many people knew each other but had to introduce themselves… isn’t it fun?? A little secret: from the threads that Andrew had forwarded to me (mostly about the party) where I “met” some of you for the first time, I was only about 25% on the mark for what you’d be like in person…!!
Anyway, I was still a little shy and feel like I didn’t try as hard as I should have to talk to all of you more, but I’d like to thank dcnewsman for chilling with me in the background for a while… and Zappo for the ride, and for being such a cool guy to hang out with in general. Oh! And also, thanks to N4S for being a perfect introduction to the crew… friendly, polite, and a smart kid to boot…! If it wasn’t for you, I might have chickened out before we made it there…:wink:

That’s it, I say we hunt down Stephanie, Matt (gobear’s wonderful SO) and John Corrado’s SO (whose name I forgot, but whose sparkling wit and fabulously sarcastic comments added greatly to the merriment) and tickle them until they register.

I forgot to commend Lucretia and Bluesman on their great costumes and on their fabulously behaved children. The kids were adorable, smart and funny to boot. Also, Bluesman is the handsomest Doper I’ve ever met and I was positively blinded by his good looks. Then I was blinded by Geobabe’s boobies, and I couldn’t see straight for the rest of the evening.

Zappo, your story about Senor Mysterioso (sp? I hope I got that right) was absolutely hilarious. I have two years of college left to have that much fun. I’ll get started on planning right away.

I believe the funniest quote of the evening went to a non-Doper, but was reported by Moi: after Moi introduced herself and asked for the non-Doper’s screen name, the non-Doper said, “Oh, I’m not ‘DOPE’!” I thought that was hilarious. :smiley:

Anyway, the party was a blast. I’d like to thank JC and his wife for being such excellent hosts, as usual.

It was a pleasure seeing everyone again, and it was a great pleasure meeting those of you I hadn’t met before. Thanks for all your encouragement RE: my imminent departure to the Air Force, and thanks for voting my cheesesteak #1 (as if there was any doubt in my mind at all…). Weirddave, your steak was quite good, and I think you’re right, if we did it ten times, it would probably be a break even contest. My hat is off to you.

MsRobyn and I did indeed have a good time. I think we’ll just leave it at that. :wink: I put her on her plane around 7:15 or so, so she should be getting back home around midnight. Maybe she’ll check in as well.

Again, it was a great honor to be in such esteemed company. I hope to see you all again in about a year or so.

Well, I finally got back at 10:00 PM-ish, after leaving JC’s at 10:00 AM.

Wow. I must say that the dopefest was amazing. I’m very glad that my first turned out so great. JC, your hospitality is unmatched by any. Geobabe, rather than make a comment on your most luxurious, most excellent breasts, I’ll move on. N4S, there’s noy way in Hell I won’t be at NYC dopefest. iampunha, moi, that_darn_cat, where to start…you three are awesome. I hope I get to see you three again soon. Zappo, your insane, college antics are an inspiration to me. Lucretia and bluesman, you are to of the coolest married couple with kids I have ever met.

To anyone else I forgot (which is a bunch of you) you are all as witty and charming in real life as you are on the boards.
