Dopefest at the KC Zoo - time for some sweet monkey love?

So, while this is kinda last minute…
I will be there tomorrow. Or today. Whichever.
But I cannot guarantee I’ll arrive at or near 9 am. While I don’t want the group waiting for me for whenever my punk ass arrives, neither do I want to wander aimlessly in the park’s deserts for 40 years.
So, what would be the best way to meet up with the group assuming I miss the start of this dopefest?

Give someone with a cell phone a call. ( I would not be one of those people, I do not have one. )

misstee and kids are leaving in about 20 mins, 10 mins later than scheduled, Wikkit.
See you all later.

I emailed you my cell number. I hope the aol address in your profile is good, Ender

mistee is an hour late, I hope everything is OK. We’ll be late or not at all.

All the Dopers were so well camouflaged, I couldn’t find any of them, though we waited in the entrance until almost 10:00. :frowning:

Littlest Marli had fun, though; we watched the giant tortoise try to go over the wall.

{{{{{Horseflesh}}}}} I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Darn, Marlitharn. Due to experiments in the exact nature of the term “late”, we didn’t really get started until after 11. There was a doper waiting from 9, though.

We probably even ran into you at some point. We’ll do better next time.

So I have to know. Did you see any real lovin’ amongst the wild things? I have such a dirty mind.

Maybe next time the Doper on stakeout can wear an SD t-shirt or something.

And I too am sorry for Horseflesh and family. He lives here in Topeka, but I don’t know if his grandmother was local as well.

I guess there isn’t going to be a followup thread. Fitting, since it was the oddest fest I’ve ever been to, and that’s saying a lot considering that the last one featured pudding wrestling. Send me a link to the photos when they get online.

Good luck to everyone with everything. You’re all a bit more dimensional to me now.

And no, I’m not gay, that would explain too much. misstee asked on the way back, so I thought I should probably post it here.

I haven’t finished with the pics of animals having sex yet (no, there are none of those pics, sorry to disappoint), so I’ll post a note here as soon as they’re ready.

I have uploaded pics of dopers.

Oh - and BTW, the magic number is not 22, its 31… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a happy camper.

The pain alone scares me…

By the way, I’m very happy to finally admit to the world that I have a girlfriend secreted away at the zoo. That skink was a cutie, wasn’t she?

And Horseflesh, auntie em and I both are sorry about your grandmother–and about your wife’s father. We wish your family the best.

  • news update *

Horseflesh father in law is doing well.

misstee is not doing well. Wikkit, I think I may take you up on your offer, if it still stands.
withaK made it to work on time on Monday.

I’m glad that the father-in-law is doing well, Horseflesh!

And I’m sorry that misstee is not doing well. I hope it improves for you, misstee, I really do. These things can be tough.

I would have had, however, no sympathy for withaK if he didn’t make it to work on time. I can’t even imagine a pizza made by him at this point. “Would you like pepperoni on that?” he’d ask.

“Yeah,” I’d say. “Twenty-two of them, please. No–wait. Make that thirty-one.”

Yuck.

My grandmother’s funeral was today, and it went about as most funerals do, very somber but not unexpected. I got to keep a rose from her funeral wreath (yeah, I like red roses; I’m a sap).

My FIL apparently suffered cardiac arrest, not a heart attack. The doctors haven’t found anything wrong with his heart, but will be running more tests tomorrow, so we’ve all got our finger’s crossed.

I’m back in Topeka at the moment taking care of some home business like pets and parent-teacher conference and some bills.

Sorry I missed the rest of the zoo trip; my kids and I were having a ball. Looks like everyone had fun on the concrete animal sex surrogates (misstee has just too big a grin on her face for it to be anything else). Apparently the kids’ favorite part of the zoo was the bathrooms, so we’re really looking forward to going again.

Thanks for all the hugs and well wishes, I will pass them on.

:smack: I totally forgot about the chocolate peanut butter pie in my van. Several of my inlaws finished it in record time while in the hospital waiting room.

Glad to hear it came in handy Horseflesh. How are your kids doing? Were they close to their great-grandma? Again, everyone , take care of yourself.
