Doper coffee mug exchange

Fairly recently there was a Doper who posted about being punished as a child for not flushing the toilet after use. He/she became so neurotic that he would run to the bathroom many times a day to make sure the toilet was flushed. Eventually, he caught the cat in the act of using the toilet (and not flushing).
Your story sort of evens things out.

laina_f, or anyone, has anyone in Canada received a mug sent from the US?

I sent mine two weeks ago, but not with the precise Canada shipping guideline thingies.

Kung Fu Lola got the one I sent, but she never posted when she got it; therefore I do not know how long it took to get to her.

By the time I did find out, it was 2 weeks after sending.

(KFL, I’m not picking on you, FWIW…)

I think mine has turned up.

I got a card from the Royal Mail saying that I have a parcel to collect (and, sadly i am not expecting anything else), so I’ve asked them to bring it to my office so I should know tomorrow or Friday.

That actually was N.Sane. Go check your email, Dung Beetle. I’m emailing you about the incident. I’m sure after all this fuss, it will be fairly anti-climactic, but what the heck!

Dung Beetle, apparently I didn’t save your email address. If you want the story of the incident, email me and I’ll give you the scoop. I think my email address is on my profile.

Laina_f, sorry for the hijack.

Alice in Wonderland: mug sent from U.S.A., not yet received
Emperor Penguin: mug received from calm kiwi in New Zealand
Kung Fu Lola: mug received from VunderBob in U.S.A.
Rodd Hill: mug sent from U.S.A., not yet received
Standup Karmic: status of mug unknown

Yay! Yay! Yay! I’ve been mugged. Somebody out there likes me!

Thank you.

A limited edition collector’s item. I was glad to get it and even more amused since we know all about bank mergers hereabouts. My husband has survived three in the last twenty years, but this last one is going to get him. I hope that one didn’t get you.

Not yet, thankfully. (off to find some wood to knock on) This is my third in 5 years. Twice, we were the take-over-er. Now we’re the take-over-ee.

Enjoy.

Excellent! Just this minute received an impressive box from Ohio, containing a very cool (and colourful!) big mug with cows and barns and trees…as well as some hot chocolate, and the most addictive little sweeties by Sweet ‘n’ Low…various coffee flavours–I’m trying my best to conceal those from co-workers! And the chai tea–a personal favourite!

Thank you so much, jsgoddess! And the good people of Schmelzer Industries, Inc. for providing the skookum box that transported everything safely.

I think that Canada Post is backed up right now, and that the box just took a while to clear Customs. It will likely be the same for other Canadian Dopers awaiting goodies from the USA.

And finally, thanks to laina_f for having such a great idea, and co-ordinating the whole thing!

Yay!

Whew. I was really starting to sweat, here.

I’m glad you like it. The cows made me laugh.

And I got the most fabulous package EVAAAAAR! Thank you so much rockingchair. The frog mug is my favorite. It’s like you drink your beverage, and then get a present in the bottom!

Unfortunatly, Santa didn’t survive the journey - however, I’m going to try to glue him and maybe use him as a soap dish.

Thank you so much - I’m going to go munch some of the chocolate right now. (I’ve never actually had a Dove bar - I don’t think you can get them in Canada)

I’ve sent mine away, late but not forgotten. It went out yesterday, and hopefully it will clear the border (Canada --> US). According to the US Customs Website, it will. If it doesn’t, I will repackage and resend.

hooray!!! i’m glad it got there. that is the original package. i guess the cons. package got delayed. perhaps that will arrive in time for ro christmas (jan 7th).

bummer about santa. he was a bit delicate. that’s why he had the dove.

dove chocolate is okay… but it’s no cadbury!

Except for a couple of late joiners that I haven’t checked with yet,
all mugs have been sent!
except for the one that was supposed to be sent to me. A bit ironic, I guess. It doesn’t matter because calm kiwi sent me a beautiful mug from N.Z., along with some chocolate. Mmmmm… TimTams.

Standup Karmic, Your mug was mailed yesterday.

I’m still not sweating, since I know mine was international, and it’s a real PITA to get something through US customs right now.

This is getting ridiculous.

I collected the parcel from the Post Office only to find that it was MY OWN MUG being returned by US customs as they didn’t like the “organic items” that it contained and deemed it to be a terrorist threat. (The “items” were rather dinky mints from that well known hot bed of terrorism the House of Lords (and I was quite proud of them).

The mug has been preapred in a manner compliant with the Homeland Security Act and is working it’s way back accross the Atlantic towards the Mid west.

For God’s sake Americans; Osama isn’t going to bring down your country by posting you beverage containers and chintzy mints. Get a grip!

It’s not my doing. I wasn’t in the meeting the day they decided mugs and mints were WMDs.

I’m so disappointed that my mug hasn’t reached its destination yet. I hope it hasn’t met with a Customs issue, as it was international and did have “treats” in it. Even counting only business days, it should have been there by now. sigh

Never thought I would wait so eagerly to get mugged…

Thank you, Survivor! I can’t wait to try the Pink Grapefruit tea and Swiss Chocolate Almond coffee in my hugamongous and pretty British Columbia mug!
