LAST CALL FOR ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS!!!
I’ve had a couple of emails with additional exchangers; if I don’t hear from anyone else by tomorrow morning I’ll make the last few matches and email them in the morning.
LAST CALL FOR ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS!!!
I’ve had a couple of emails with additional exchangers; if I don’t hear from anyone else by tomorrow morning I’ll make the last few matches and email them in the morning.
I’ll be sending mine out Monday.
Momma Zappa are we receiving from the person we sent to? Or is it all random?
Last year I recieved from one, and sent to another. I think it is probably the same way this year.
Correct - it’s “round-robin” - A sends to B, B sends to C, C sends to D… Z sends to A.
Great! Thanks!
She sent me chocolate!! And she read my mind. Zabali Clawbane sent me two wonderful homemade, oops, handmade ornaments (I don’t know how to do that cross-out thingy) and one of my favorite candy bars. Not to mention the little flower applique. Totally made my day. Thank you very much. I’m smiling, even as I get ready for work.
You’re welcome. I made the blue one. I’d hoped you’d like the chocolate.
I sent mine today, in the smallest box I could find to fit it in - which was actually not very small.
I am off to the post office right now!
I got mine, and it’s already on my tree! Woohoo! It’s two pretty ponies, and they look like they’re hand cross-stitched. I didn’t see a name, though, perhaps I missed it? Thank you, whomever!
Anaamika,
Those are NOT ponies, those are giraffes. They are hand cross-stitched–by me, for you (er, or whoever’s name I got). And if you look closely at the return address on the envelope, it said Eureka and my last name. But if you didn’t look closely, or if I messed up, it may have appeared to be my real name.
Heh, I don’t think most of us are used to signing things outside the internet with our SDMB names, right? (I, er know I’m not… :o )
Sorry, I never looked at the return envelope closely! And yes, they are giraffes, and quite clearly so. I hung it on my tree right away and assumed they were horses. Thanks! I like them.
No reason why you should be. On the other hand, I picked up the nickname Eureka in college, from friends who liked to “repronounce” words. I seldom signed my name that way, but I identify with my SDMB name more than some people probably do. And it wouldn’t have taken much effort on my part to sign my name more conspicuously–making it easier for my recipient to identify me. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever participate in another exchange.
I’m relieved to know that they are clearly giraffes. I’d thought so while stitching them up, and agonized a little over whether my recipient would appreciate them–finally erring on the side of any doper participating in this exchange should appreciate something a little quirky.
(I stitched a similar ornament with moose for a real life gift exchange. The original recipient loved it, and appreciated the effort that had gone into making the ornament. Then she swapped with her father, who had gotten one of the least gender-neutral presents from the exchange-- a jar of very flowery scented body cream).
A thoughtful, merciful daughter, eh?
I sent mine off today. I had to scour high and low for an ornament sized box! Those are hard to find so it took a few days to get sent. I also included a letter explaining WHY I chose the ornament I did since I have no crafty abilities and I ended up choosing something a bit odd.
I got an ornament and it will ship tomorrow!

I finally got out this past Saturday and got mine, now I just have to package and ship (also the Secret Santa… sigh…)
Thanks so much to Eleanor of Aquitaine for the lovely ornament. My best friend’s grandfather used to make similar ones (although I like yours better - please don’t tell her!), so it’s got additional sentimental value for me too…
Just sent out mine. It’s headed East…
