Doper Parents of Adult Children: How Many Grandkids Do You Have?

If you have children that are over 18, how many grandkids do you have?

Poll to follow.

Mrs. Homie and I can’t have kids, and her brother shows no interest in dating, marriage, or children (he’s 40ish), so Mrs. Homie’s parents are both None and Done.

My dad is SOL for the moment, too, as my half-sister (same dad, different moms) is not attached, although she’s still really young (25), so he may yet have grandkids.

My mom has a son from her second marriage, and he’s got four kids, plus her stepkids all have kids, so she has ~12 grandkids (don’t feel like counting right now).

My son is about to turn 19, which means he’s officially made it longer than I did before breeding!

No significant significant others yet, but I have no real reason to think he won’t start a family someday. I’m fairly indifferent about the idea, but statistically, I’ll probably be a grandmother someday.

My daughter is 6. Waaaaay too young to know about any health/personal preference issues for that one.

My eldest daughter has 5 children, my other has 4, and my son has 3.
Some of them have offspring as well.
And I am not that old.

I know my mother is disappointed. From her 5 children, she has only 3 grandkids, and none of them have reproduced yet. Yet her friend who had 3 kids has got 7 or 8 grandkids and at least one great-grandkid…

I know my daughter wants children and I just hope and pray she finds someone better than the current zinger she’s attached to before she does - your partner should be more mature than your potential babies.

My kids are 21 and 22 and there are no grandkids on the horizon yet. I am not looking for them yet either. I’m breaking the family cycle and instead of bugging them for grandkids so “I can be a younger grandmother than yours was” I’m encouraging them to finish their education and travel while they are responsible for only themselves.

My daughter is 22 and I have a feeling she’ll never have children. I hope it changes at some point in the distant future because she’s a wonderful person and I think she’d be an awesome mom but she’s told me she won’t contribute by having her own. I’d be just as happy if, one day when she can afford it, she adopts a house full.

Just the one, but she is the cutest little thing EVER!

My daughter doesn’t like or want babies and kids. My husband is extremely distraught about this. Me? Not really. I’m sure that I’d at least LIKE any kids that she had, and probably even grow to love them, but I don’t like kids as a general rule. After I gave birth, it took me a couple of days to love my daughter. Lactation hormones are magic.

My daughter has cats, and wants to live in a place where she can have at least a couple of dogs, too.
