Dopers To The Rescue!!!!!!!!

Gonzo: We have a Dallas, in Georgia, trust me. I’m here smack-dab in the middle of it right as we speak!

John Whoo-Hoo! They update standing every Wednesday, I believe.

Everybody: You ROCK!

Bill

It really is located in Dallas, GA!

I’ve made my daily vote, and checked the rankings.

Paulding is #10 in Georgia! Top ten, baby!

I click to give each day on all six sites, but I will add the shelter vote to my routine

Heartfelt Thanks to all Dopers who are helping this very worthy cause! Paulding’s shelter has an ongoing over-population problem, and we desperately need more space!

A grant would go a long way towards that goal, and it’s just very gratifying that y’all are pitching in so hard to make this happen!

Thanks once again to Johnny LA, and ALL of you for doing this wonderful thing!

Bill

Done and Done, and that doesn’t mean what you thought it meant  Voted for Paulding Humane Society even thought I’m not in Georgia. Sigh, also lured me into looking at petfinder, even though I’m at my personal limit for pets right now.

I’m at my personal limit right now. No pets. But sometimes I really want a cat. Maybe I can find a shelter that will let me play with theirs every so often.

Actually, I came across this business name: THE CAT RENTAL STORE. I thought that sounded like a fine idea. Only, then I remembered that I was looking at heavy equipment companies.

Well ya know, they have that weight control formula cat food now… just sayin… It must be Biodiesel or somesuch.

I know. “Him again!”, right?

I’m afraid I am not having a good day, y’all, but at least I have y’all to “talk” to. I’m not some unwanted doggy or kitty in a shelter waiting to die.

So please remember to click to feed and then click to vote for my shelter, Paulding Humane Society, Inc. Dallas, Georgia in The $20,000 Shelter Challenge. Remember also you have to confirm your vote by typing in the name of the animal which pops up on the next page.

I thank you for all your kindnesses.

Bill

I would have thought the same thing, Johnny, and anytime you wanna play with a kitty or doggy, we’d love to have you play with ours. Fair warning, though, Buddy, you ain’t gonna wanna leave and you ain’t gonna wanna leave empty-handed, either!

Q

I voted again. The puppy I picked up Saturday is already housebroken. No accidents in 2 days. Not bad for a 7 month old half beagle.

Voted here as well.

I voted twice today.

Voted again. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Kids! Let’s see if we can win this thing for Paulding Humane, okay? E-mail a friend with instructions, and have them e-mail one of THEIR friends, etc. "Upside-Down Pyramid Scheme’!

Send them this poem. It’s very touching.

The Life of A Shelter Dog
By Augusta DeLisi

He was a typical dog abandoned all alone
never had a human he could call his own.
He was left on the streets and was beaten and hurt,
always had to dodge cars so he stayed very alert.

He dreamed of being loved and living in a caring place
with a kind, gentle human that would enjoy getting licked on the face.
One day a lady found him and brought him to the pound.
He was scared and frightened of all the barking dogs around.

He wagged his tail every time someone came by his kennel,
in a way to say “Pick me, I’m the dog for you”
but all the people just walked by,
he knew his dream would not come true.

He sat in his cage as the days passed him by.
Another day came, it was his turn to die.
The dog warden came with a leash held in hand.
She had tears in her eyes, he did not understand.

He walked up to greet her, his tail wagging fast.
Was as friendly as could be, despite his rough past.
As she walked him into a room he knew something was not right,
she told him she was sorry, then hugged him real tight.

He then looked at her with his trusting brown eyes,
because of careless people this dog had to die.
He would have made a wonderful friend.
Just another of God’s gifts whose life had to end.

The dog wagged his tail as he walked through Heaven’s gate.
He now had a home, He no longer had to wait.

Thanks

Bill

I voted, but I’m not saying that to brag. It’s the least one can do. I just wanted to say, though, that I love the site’s version of a “captcha” (or however that’s supposed to be spelled.) I can identify animals. No amount of squinting and peering helps me identify the usual heiroglylphs that I’m supposed to type in…

I’ve merged Quasimodem’s two threads about this site, one from Saturday and one from today. It’s pretty much the same as bumping the original thread.

Also voted.

I’ve got a huge soft spot for shelter animals, and I would love to be adopted by a rescue kitty or two if my current living arrangements permitted it. It’s definitely something I plan to do as soon as I can.

I dunno, mine actually gave me pause. It was some sort of tiger-looking thing, but at first glance I wasn’t entirely sure that it wasn’t perhaps a liger or maybe even a peculiar-looking leopard. My confusion was somewhat heightened by the fact that the example text said “cat, dog, etc.” – I wondered if maybe I Was supposed to just put in the all-encompassing term “cat.” Eventually I figured, “to hell with it, it’s probably the obvious one,” and it turned out I was right. But it took me way longer than CAPTCHAs usually do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also voted, and will add it to my daily click! Is Paulding really #433? Dang, we can do better than that.
