I saw a Patrick Malone in third place here but I think it’s a false positive.
I’m sure that someone from the newspaer I buy read this board, andthe staff reports and Cecils columns as I often see stuff appear in there a few days after being on the SD.
I’ll not spam the paper but the coincidences are sometimes very remarkable.
I bumped into hedra on a mommies-to-be board. I looked at her profile here and there to make sure it was the same person (how many lower-case hedras could there be?). Her son was born about 3 weeks before mine. We still both post on both boards.
I have run across dtilque at the wordplay message board, samclem at the word origins message board, and quondam Doper jois at sci.anthropology.paleo. Internet searches I do often turn up pages written by The Bad Astronomer, bbeaty, and some guy named Cecil Adams.

My experience wasn’t online, but I think I may have run across the same Wonko the Sane in a magazine that I read. Unless that’s a common nickname, like a character reference or something. It was odd, because when I read the article, I didn’t picture someone from the SDMB writing about the subject matter.
Judging by some of the topics he’s participated in here, I’m inclined to believe that the Jonathan Chance of the SDMB is the same one I’ve run across at baseballprimer.com.
Yeah, I think the Sims game and other things in life have taken me away from this board but running into you there brought me back and it’s refreshing, in a strange kind of way
I have run across jinwicked on the CafePress boards.
I know that at least one doper has run across my bubblewrap page, because there was a thread started about it.
I saw a post by tequila mockingbird on the Flying Tiger Line reunion site.
I noticed Vanyel’s posts after he mentioned www.dapcentral.org, a site I visit as well.
If it’s any help, the other name I tend to use online is Criticalpedestrian.
But I don’t really go nuts on many other boards, and on not on any newsgroups.
If anyone is a big fan of Tops in Blue you’ve probably come across my mom’s boyfriend (Xenon, unless he posts as something else in that context).
This thread made me think of Technosphere - remember all the creatures running around with _SDMB appended to their names? I’m shocked to discover I still have some living Skitty_SDMB creatures!

I, too, found JinWicked’s page long before I knew she was a doper. Now I visit her page semi-regularly. Now, if only I had the disposable income to buy some of her paintings!
There are a few Dopers I remember from my time on another forum, where I was also Legomancer.
To help others know if they’ve spotted me:
- I pretty much always go by Legomancer, though there are others now (grumble - there weren’t when I first started). I don’t play quake, so the one who does isn’t me.
- I used to be on the MUD ‘Medievia’ as Beebo.
- Back in my BBS days in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, I went by several aliases, but the most notable were Eric the Penguin, The Rainmaker, Gothic Wombat, Ballpoint Pig, and Tequila Mockingbird (no relation).
- Yes, I’m the Legomancer from the “All Your Base” video. I did the one with the kid writing on the chalkboard.

I was reading the Absurd Notions message board today and saw someone named Wikkit there. No clue if it’s the same one.
