"Dopesick" drama mini-series

I’m a little late to the party here as this premiered back in October, but I somehow had never heard of it until Danny Strong appeared as a guest on Bill Maher last Friday and it was discussed. Strong created the series, co-wrote the scripts, and was executive producer along with Michael Keaton who also had a starring role.

It was briefly mentioned in the “Series you’ve recently watched” thread but only that a couple of folks had started watching it, with no further comment. I just finished the series and was blown away by the excellence both in the acting talent in front of the camera and the production quality behind it. I was especially impressed by Michael Keaton as Dr. Sam Finnix, Michael Stuhlbarg as the consummately evil Richard Sackler, and Kaitlyn Dever as Betsy.

I was so captivated that between last night and late this morning I went through all 8 episodes, a total of 8 hours and 12 minutes. It was very powerful, IMO. It also has one of the highest ratings I’ve ever seen on IMDB. I have a whole new respect for Danny Strong, but he did enlist some excellent and high-priced talent, too.

Anyone else care to comment?

Oh yeah the oxy epidemic, addict nation. I need to see this.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but preferred Alex Gibney’s documentary The Crime of the Century.
