Downtown Albany and the Bronx Zoo - an Educational MMP

I love Arizona, if I did not already have a steady job here in Michigan (and plans for grad school here as well) I would be trying to find something in Phoenix. Some of the things out there are just so damn stunning that they never get old.

Traveling with father ended up working quite well. I just avoided engaging in any political discussions leaving them between my father and brother who who are closer together on the spectrum. Brother is doing great, especially now that he is actually in his AIT classes (for the last several months he has sat around the base working as an office monkey waiting to get into the overbooked classes). And he is contemplating working at becoming a commisioned officer, which means he will finally get a college degree.

Have any of you seen these? Someone has one here at work, and they’re just a riot.

I want one. I don’t know what in hell I’d use it for, but that’s the smartest invention since velcro.

My employer switched everyone from the highly predictable pay dates of the 1st and the 15th to biweekly Fridays at the start of this year, and yes, there was much wailing.

At least we’re a bank and were in a position to provide interest-free pay loans to anyone who needed one to bridge what was going to be a more than three-week gap between the December 15 pay and the first pay of 2006. Pretty much everyone took the option to get an “extra” paycheck at January 1, with either the option to split it over the other 26 paychecks of the year, or to take it in one lump from the third paycheck that was going to happen in June.

Ah. I’m sorry, I thought you were doing ok with that.

I always have strange dreams, most of which I enjoy immensly, but some not so much…
Off to do grad school stuff.

That’s what’s happening here gotti. Well, most of us have been on bi-weekly for a while. For reasons that shall forever be incomprehensible to me, our former CFO managed to convince our boss not to change those who are paid hourly over to bi-weekly. This is the same person whom I had a fairly large hand in getting fired who used me as a personal reference a couple months back, if y’all recall that. Current CFO approached me with the idea a couple weeks ago. I was all for it. We went to boss lady for backing and she was jake with it too. It’s me who got the joy of breaking the news cause, well, I’m their boss. Ok, actually I’m their boss’s boss but big stuff like this gets to come from me.

So, I had private talks with two people. One surprisingly enough told me he was fine with it now. He wanted to talk to me cause he said he had some bad things to say about me and was feeling bad about what he said and wanted to apologize personally. I thanked him for his apology, telling him that it meant a lot to me for him to want to come to me personally like that. I mean, heck, who among us doesn’t say or think bad things about our boss from time to time? That was an uber jake thing for him to do IMO. The second came in with the “I don’t know how I’ll be able to pay my bills, feed my children, put gas in my car, [del]bring about world peace[/del] if I can’t be paid weekly” tactic. I reminded her that she has until January to work out her finances and that should be plenty of time to look at how she’ll need to adjust her budget. I also told her it’s not that bad to be paid bi-weekly and once she gets used to it, it’ll be no problem. I don’t think she left very happy with me.

I still think my floating cooler is jakier than the cruzin’ cooler.

I wore my new red shoes today! They are red patent leather platforms with ankle straps. I love them! And there’s almost no heel, so they’re trendy AND comfortable. How cool is that? I keep admiring them. I don’t think I’ve had a pair of patent leather shoes since I was 5. They’re so shiny. I tried to find a picture online, but they don’t seem to exist. Oh, well, that’s even better, then.

rebo, it was very difficult for me to use my STD benefits last year, but on good days, it sure made life easier to be able to do errands and stuff while most people are at work. If you have that Calvinist work ethic thing going on, remind yourself that getting well is your job now.

I love that cruzin’ cooler. I anticipate seeing one on my street any day now. Maybe that guy who prefers to pay his bills by getting the @#$@ beat out of him.

I saw that on HGTV. What a riot!

swampy, I hope still disgruntled employee doesn’t work in accounting.

What? They pay you to have chlamydia?

d&r

Not to worry Puggy. All these people do stuff associated with our employment stuff. They’re floor supervisors, job coaches, warehouse folks and such. Nobody has anything to do with money at all.

That is FUNEEE!!!

Ruby slippers, huh? didja click yer heels three times?
Where did you get them? I could use a pair of trendy comfortables

Speaking of dreams, it seems of late I keep having dreams that take place in my childhood home, although it’s never exactly the house where I grew up. There always seem to be doors going to rooms that I never knew about… And the last one I had ended with me coming up the stairs from the basement to the kitchen, and my dad was standing there waiting for me. It was kinda creepy since Dad died 4 years ago - I lay there a few moments trying to figure out if I was alive or dead.

At the risk of tarnishing my squeeky clean image, I have to share this. About 4 this morning, Miss Brandy decided she needed to crawl under my covers to warm up. I was lying on my side, and she made her way to the crook behind my knees and settled in to snooze. After about 15 minutes or so, alas, I let forth a little toot, which was followed almost immediately by Brandy frantically scrambling to get out from under the covers. I didn’t do it on purpose - sometimes toots happen… <snerk>

Just talked to my sweetie - in just over 24 hours, he’ll be home - at least, he’ll be arriving at BWI and I’ll be picking him up. I’ll be so glad - it’s been too quiet with him away. Plus I hate talking on the phone, especially when he’s on his cell, which is not a particularly good one. So yay!

In honor of my last night home alone, I think someone should take me out to dinner. Or bring dinner to me. Either way.

Anyone? Anyone??

BWAHAHAHAHA! I almost sprayed diet Coke on my keyboard over that one.

We’re having homemade pizza tonight. You’re welcome to stop by. If you can make it to MN in time for dinner that is.

:stuck_out_tongue:

rosie, I bought the shoes at Macy’s. They said they’d only had them in for 3 days and were almost sold out. They are BCBGirls brand, and look like this, only dark red. The front platform is a little over 1", and the whole heel is 2", which is as much heel as I can handle. They are very comfortable, and support my arches.

those ARE cool

I really want these, too. Is it too cutesy for a grown woman to have kitty cats on her shoes? And I like these, but the heel’s waaaayyyy too high for me.

Bwa-ha-ha!!! I mean, poor kitty. <SNERK!!!>

Glad your sweetie is coming home. It’s funny how we miss the big lugs when they’re away, huh?

In honor of the first night of my interminable vacation, we’re having fried chicken, mashed NOTs, cream gravy, and baby peas. Stop on in!

Hello! I’m doing laundry. I had a weird dream last night, and I blame you people. I was being menaced by a large bear(N.O.S.), right outside my apartment. The weird part was that Wondermutt was actually defending me.

Puggy, the short end of the stick in a sex dream? <SNERK>

For the woman who has everything: antibiotics.

Alastir, A co-worker offer to find me a job in Phoenix, but scorpions and 96 degree lows aren’t my cup of tea.

Ohhh, Jahdra, those are awesome! Both pairs!

Now, do I wear my new black cardigan or my new maroon cardigan to work? Oh, decisions. Speaking of which, I should leave in about ten minutes. It’s raining and I feel unenthusiastic.
