Just FYI, Downward Dog started out as an 11 minute video on Vimeo. The actors on the video are all different (even Martin), but Martin’s voice is the same.
Martin’s voice is performed by Samm Hodges, one of the creators of the show. He’s the one on the left in the back row of this picture.

I give the show some credit for being set and filmed in Pittsburgh. Many, many shows are filmed someplace other than where they’re set.
We like it, but I keep wanting to shake the woman and tell her; “If you want to have a mature relationship, you need to find a mature person to have it with.”

I think the title killed it. It was too cutsie and trendy.
After the last episode we watched, my husband said, this gets a little dark and depressing sometimes. I have to agree, it’s not a complete downer, but it has its moments. I’m not sure that’s the direction they really wanted to take it, so I can understand that it’s not getting a second season. If it were though, I would continue to watch, at least for now.
I have to admit, the more I watched, the more I liked it. I’m a little bummed it got canceled - I would’ve liked to watch Nan take over and put her dumb boss out on the street.
Best moment of the season for me, Martin is talking about Halloween and how Nan dresses him in costumes. He says, “this happens, like, once every seven years or so…”
Are you saying that Downward Dog is happy and living on a farm now?
I saw the first ep and I liked it. My son even got really choked up when they showed the dog in the kennel and all the people not getting him until the main girl did.
I thought it was amusing and I liked the actors and the dog voice well enough but I didn’t get the chance to see any other episodes after that.
I liked the show but I prefer the web series, how you only really heard him talking. The human characters on the TV show weren’t appealing to me. I didn’t care about all the work-related drama at all. Everything with the dog was great though. I loved the interactions with the cat and the episode with the puppy was sweet.
I really love this show. Hopefully, it will be picked up by another channel.
