This whole thing is a bit of an experiment - so who knows their reasoning. At least it’s good for the international people who can’t buy it yet
The “Buy it” part comes later. The DVD will be loaded with extras, including a completely musical commentary! So in this case it’s:
Exactly. I’ve seen it a couple of times now, showed it to people, and will be buying the DVD and soundtrack whenever they’re available. Plus, the version that’s on Hulu now has some ads in it (and it’s able to be embedded, so everyone with a computer might have it sent to them within a week or two), so there’s money to be made there.
He figured out step 2!
And the song “A Man’s Gotta Do (What a Man’s Gotta Do)” pops into my head…
I just bought a season pass on iTunes. Totally worth the dirt-cheap $4 for the entertainment value alone. Being able to show popular support Whedon with a new venture in the hope that he’ll make more cool stuff in the future makes it even better.
I bought it too, because my Internet was just to slow to deal with the Hulu site. I’m in Viet Nam and Sleel seems to be in Japan, so at least some international people can buy it.
I have a US credit card still, so I downloaded it from the US site. I actually don’t know if it’s on the Japan store or not. Will have to check that when I’ve got time.
redundant post
I forget how this one actually goes but:
“Look at my wrist! I’ve got to go!”
Yeah, eventually I’m going to find a way to use that one IRL.
A bit late to the party but I finally watched all three episodes last night. Then I watched them again. I went to bed with “Freeze Ray” so firmly stuck in my head I couldn’t sleep. Then I woke up this morning and watched it again.
It’s just…so great. NPH is the best thing about it, but everyone does exactly what they should with their roles. Even Moist (“Do you need anything dampened?..”). I loved the groupies too (“We do the weird stuff”).
Off to work, before I’m tempted to watch it again.
Re-watched again. For some reason, the thing that tickles me most is Harris doing the little finger dance during “Brand New Day”. Don’t know why it’s so funny, but it is.
This was my favorite segment, said so casually that when my brain finally parsed it a minute later I couldn’t stop giggling.
Dr. Horrible:
Hey, didn’t you…Didn’t you go on a date last night? Conflict Diamond told me you were doubling with Bait’N’Switch.
Moist:
Yeah…
Dr. Horrible:
Yeah?
Moist:
It was all right. I kinda thought I was supposed to end up with Bait, but…
That is a beautiful little byplay, especially Doc’s wince and “I hear ya” at the end.
So it’s Conflict Diamond? That fits with what I was hearing, but I couldn’t parse it properly. I kept hearing “Confidainment” or something based off the word confidant, but that didn’t make any sense to me.
So, I’m looking at making a Dr. Horrible Halloween costume (I’ve got a friend in my squadron who is perfect for Captain Hammer willing to dress up too). Where are some good places to find mad scientist coats? I’m looking at this one.
The soundtrack is now available from itunes, and the official lyrics are up at the website, drhorrible.com. The site also has a link to get it via itunes.
*** Ponder
Note that the soundtrack is an iTunes Plus release, which means there’s no DRM. I usually can’t play iTunes downloads on my non-iPod mp3 player, but happily the soundtrack works for me.
Just a heads-up that the soundtrack is basically the music straight from the show, no extended versions of any of the songs, but without background noise. So check those track times and see if it’s worth it to you before buying. (I said yes! I’d been playing the videos on my iPod just to listen to the songs.)
