I could maybe use a bit of help here- I can get on the ‘act1’ page the player and NPH w/a gun? pops up, but when I hit the play button, and after it tries to load for a while, I get a message saying “Sorry, we are unable to stream this video. Please check your internet connection and try again.”
Now it’s sort of hit and miss with what videos will play on my office computer, but the thing is, when I go to hulu.com to watch the videos there, they play just fine. Unfortunately it seems as though you can’t watch Dr.Horrible on the actual Hulu site either.
So is it my comp? Too many people watching the show at a time? Anything I can do to remedy this here? I suppose I could wait till I get home to watch it, but why bring work home right?
Do you have a firewall running - Norton perhaps? If so, try disabiling it, this works for a lot of peopel who get that error
Shoot, I was hoping not to hear that. I can’t disable it on my work computer, as far as I know. I just don’t get though, why I would be able to watch the videos on hulu.com, but not the one on the Dr.Horrible page?
Thanks just the same Tal
I’m not sure what the reason would be, perhaps it’s because the site is being routed through another website
concur w/ Tal - if you pirate a copy, you are defeating a major part of the purpose behind this.
Just so ya know, whatever’s there is actually Canadian.
I finally got my roommate to watch it, and she hates it. Go figure. Can’t stand musicals, but she thinks it’s awful on top of that. Oh well, so it’s not 100% appreciated.
Bosstone - good thing she’s not your SO! LOL
Act II is now up! Dr. Horrible gets closer to Penny and comes up with the ultimate evil plan!
I do believe I’m going to have to purchase this! Will the soundtrack be available?
Also…
The hammer is my penis.
I never said it wasn’t logical; I just didn’t understand how pirate/illegal sites now = ripoff now. But I see that you’re concerned about after the 20th, which makes sense.
Fair point, but it seems to me that once you’re at Whedon’s level producers would be more concerned with sales (iTunes and DVDs) than web site hits. Almost anyone will look at something for free. But even if they are concerned with total numbers, I still don’t agree that unofficial viewings fit the “ripping them off” bill.
Totally agree with you there.
Agreed; but again, it’s not “ripping them off.”
My SO would absolutely hate Dr. Horrible. I wouldn’t even bother trying to get him to watch it. But I love him anyway.
It’s not on iTunes yet. Grrr! Argh!
It’s been years since I anxiously awaited the release of something to watch. And longer since I did it without knowing everything before hand. (me = spoiler whore). I like it. I would also second a request for a soundtrack, these ones might have been even better than the last act.
Best line ever.
Captain Hammer is so stupid, it’s funny. I love it.
I think it’s important to know how many people would watch it, as opposed to pay for it.
Even on file sharing sites, it’s easy to see how many people have been moved to use their fingers enough to view it.
I’m not sure what the networks and advertisers are supposed to do with that information though, but it’s better than Nielson ratings, IMO.
Anyway, I watched Act 1. Watch-able, but I wouldn’t pay for it. I’d watch an ad for it, and I guess that’s the problem with file sharing sites. People would immediately delete the ad, and re-upload it. Or would they? I don’t know.
This is about nine ways strange, but I can’t wait for Act III.
Agreed. My new favourite Whedon quote.
Hee, I was coming to post that quote as my favorite, too.
I like it more and more. The duet was really well written, and the actors are great.
I hope they sell Captain Hammer T-shirts sometime down the line!
The ARE selling Captain Hammer T-Shirts - there’s a link on the fan site at www.doctorhorrible.net they’ve already sold out of some of them though
Here’s the shirt site. Four designs- show logo, Dr. Horrible head, Captain Hammer head, and Captain Hammer logo.
