Dr. Laura is a douche bag!

Good idea - I think I’ll do the same.

Keep in mind her show hasn’t started yet -
Paramout just announced plans that it’s going
to do it, I think in the fall. When it does,
I’ll find out some more info. (Of course,
I could always just listen to her radio show,
which I’m sure will have at least some of
the same sponsors, but I don’t even know if
we get her in Philly.)

You can start with Paramount.

Dammit. I don’t know how to edit the stinking code so that it creates a hyperlink without the scroll. Sorry, folks.

Lynn

If it’s helpful, I’ll compare everyone to Hitler so we can get this
over with as soon as possible.

Ma’am Moderator ma’am…

Maybe just edit it to:

{url=http://the long horrid thing I typed} see the article {/url}

Should take care of it.

Sorry, twas my bad, I repent, I repend I repent…

“Semper Ubi Sub Ubi.” =-)

Dr. L is better than all of her callers and better than all of you and she knows it. And, that pisses you off; get on with your lives- have you forgotten that (just like Springer, Howerd Stern and Judge Judy) she’s entertaining? You slam her for making fun off stupid callers who don’t know what to do with their own lives… They’re the problem, not Dr. Laura… she gets RATINGS, which is the only reason she’s on the air- to make the station money. The stupid people are a seperate issue, and I know what should be done with all of them- it’s called a bullet- put them out of their misery. PLEASE. :stuck_out_tongue:

PimpJilly, I’m going to grant you the courtesy of taking your post seriously, and then offer this hypothetical:

If there were to develop a market for dogshit sandwiches, I would be too ashamed to sell them. I would also be disdainful of those who bought them. I would, however, reserve my most vituperative curses for those who chose to sell them.

I trust you can see the parallels I am drawing here.

Putx.

Putx?

Oh, well.

At least I don’t have to worry about infringing on Wally’s patented put-down.

She isn’t any better than YOU.

[/quote[ I have a very low opinion of people who find the individuals you mention entertaining. They are boors and nothing more.

No one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of the American people. --H. L. Mencken

How do you know you’re not a stupid person?

Feel free to correct me at any time. But don’t be surprised if I try to correct you.

God, I can’t believe I am about to admit that I listen to Dr. Laura, let alone -sort of- come to her defense.
O.K., sometimes on the way home from work, I listen to Dr. Laura and while I don’t always agree with her message and her style, more times then not, I side with what she has to say.
You have to remember that people are calling HER and therefore are fully aware of what they are in for.
She contends that she is not running a “debate” show and that right or wrong, she is giving only one person’s opinion, nameley hers.
One thing I find interesting in light of the opposition now waged against her by the homosexual contingency is that for the longest time, while “Ellen” was on the air, the gay community said to those who disagree with their lifestyle, that if you don’t like it, then change the channel.
Now that someone has taken a stand in their opposition, they are determined to get her off the air.

This is called the “marketplace of ideas”, the selfsame venues “Dr.” Laura is trying to choke off. The sad part is she sold out her own beliefs and then attacked the venue she used.

Her emphasis on responsibility and conscience were diluted by her exploitation of the medium she used. She found out that pop communication is very much a two-edged sword. But instead of living up to her own (viciously) espoused beliefs, she funked it.

True fact: she posed nude–and the pics got posted on the Net. Did SHE accept responsibility for her own choice? No. She attacked the medium by which HER choice was disseminated.

She climbed on the back of the tiger, then bitched about the bumpy ride. Take up a sword, but then don’t complain about combat.

She chose the arena and set the rules. It all comes down to “don’t cast stones”. She built a damned catapult and then slashed back, out of weakness and ineptness, when her loudly espoused “standards” were used to measure her. So sad, so sorry, what did she EXPECT?!

This isn’t conservatism. It’s opportunism masquerading as character. “Dr.” Laura is a glitz hound who lost her substance and credibility. Users, on either end of the political spectrum, are contemptible. (Elected or media.)

Too bad she threw away the experience that could have given credence to her hype.

Oh, only that she were entertaining! As it is, she’s just a whiny jackass.

Ask the Gay Guy!

Well, you got that one wrong. If any* broadcaster were to say the things she says against blacks or women, she’d be off the air in a second (reference Jimmy the Greek, to name just one). But because she says it about gays and lesbians, she’s entitled to her own show? Puh-lease - there’s having your own opinion, and there’s responsible broadcasting.

Ask the Gay Guy!

Clarification: If statements like the derogatory things she’s made about homosexuality were said by any other broadcaster about, say, blacks or women, they’d be kicked off the air immediately.

Thank you.

Ask the Gay Guy!

I resent the title of this post!

It’s an insult to douche bags everywhere.

I just hope that one day, Our Lady of Sherman Oaks gets whats coming to her–hopefully in the form of a visit from men in white coats.

In the mean time, I’ll think of her every time I get that not-so-fresh feeling.
