Dr. laura kinda sorta renounces Judaism

Article from the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles

So whaddya think? I understand religious thoughts are intensely persona, but when a public figure discusses them, it’s fair game. I understand her struggle, in that I have had such thoughts about my religious belief system for the past couple of years.

I don’t think it’s any of our business. This is the kind of thing which should be kept to yourself.

From the article:

I guess that explains it.

I would think that her paucity of outlets would better be explained by the vitriol she spews, but that’s my bitter, cynical side coming out.

In fact, it’d be nice if Dr. Laura kept more things to herself.

Oh of course. Nobody converts to another religion unless there is money in it for them …

Very astute, SnoopyFan, that’s exactly what I meant; NOBODY. I couldn’t have possibly just meant Dr. Laura. Even though that’s the only person we are talking about, you instinctively knew I meant nobody on Earth ever changes religion for anything but money, and not just the person under discussion. I salute you, genius.

Although Retvim put it pretty sarcastically, I agree with him. Your interpretation of his post seems intentionally skewed.

I found extremely ironic to hear this right after I myself left Orthodox Judaism, especially since I also converted. (I however am looking for answers within Judaism)

It would be even more ironic I suppose if I had been a big admirer of Dr. Laura, but I rather inclined more to the opinion that she should have kept more to herself.

My guess is she’s trying to avoid getting named in that Egyptian lawsuit. You know she’s got a frying pan or two in her closet.

I don’t see a change or a conflict … seems to be the same path she’s been on … seems she’s had many moments of “I’d never …” in a black-and-white sense … change into “Whoops, well NOW I would never…” I know the big station in the S.F. Bay Area didn’t seem let her show stay or go based on her religion … but rather her consistancy … or lack.
