The rule against socks is to prevent people from trolling or allowing them to debate dishonestly with their alternate persona.

So what would you call posting as Jesus Christ in a debate with a religious person? To me, that’s pretty clearly being a jerk.

Gimmick accounts are funny when well done. Saving us from Jesus H. Christ and The Grapist is a waste of time and a pointless downer.

This is a very simple rule, and if we made an exceptions for jokes we’d be up to our asses in complaints and questions of why one person got a break for a joke and another one didn’t.

Clearly it was a lapse in judgment, but he makes valuable contributions and has never engaged in similarly borderline behavior before. It would be very unfortunate not to see him return.
