Horrible, horrible episode, the writers have obviously been watching too much “Family Guy”, specifically, the overuse of the “dragging a joke out too long”, and to make matters worse, it was fart “humor” to boot
the only redeeming points was the “Spanky as a hostage negotiator” subplot
overall, a completely forgettable episode, on a scale of 1-10, this would rate a 2, one point for continuity of Capt. Hero’s severed finger, one point for "Spanky as hostage negotiator
i will not be downloading this episode, skip this one, you won’t be missing anything…
Well, that was the joke. It was meant to be critical of Spanky’s farting (thus setting up the joke), plus it was an irony gag to boot. We’re supposed to think that Spanky’s fart is his review of the show, but it actually turns out he was farting.
I thought this was a good episode, perhaps one of the best so far. I was entertained fairly by the Xandir-“Todd Todderson” plot, but I thought the subplot involving the Entertainment Weekly review and its effects on the cast was very funny- especially due to the fact that it was an actual review in Entertainment Weekly of the first episode. (I actually wrote “Like a homosexual with amnesia, we come out every week” on the cover of my copy of the latest issue"). And I do agree that the Spanky-as-hostage-negotiator was a highlight in that. “How come he gets to wear the fucking pants?” “WOMAN KILLED- ‘NOT ME’ BLAMED”
I wasn’t a big fan of the main plot with Xander and Capt. Hero, but the sub-plot with Spanky as a negotiator and then going to EW and killing everyone was funny.
“Oh no, they’re all dead! Dead! I’m alone, what do I do now?..(cuts to her with skirt rolled up on copier) wheeeeeeeeeeeee!”
“You’re a jewish, asian, born again, pro-life, lesbian, anti-gay woman who cuts herself. You’re everything we make fun of!”
