I legit found the thread interesting. I never knew that about the history of Texas. Oh, and fuck Texas.
He used to drop “as a Fed” in LEO threads, giving the impression he had some sort of front line duty without saying he was an FBI agent.
Yeah, he spent a few years being extremely cagey about what kind of “federal agent” he was, dropping hints about his “badge” without being specific, trusting us to read between the lines and infer more than he was actually saying (examples here and here). He was then repeatedly confronted on what exactly he was implying, and he backed off the cagey hints and clarified somewhat.
In fairness to him, this was all twenty years ago, and he has been somewhat more disciplined in the years since. It was definitely something he used to do, but it’s probably inappropriate to keep beating him with that specific club, absent any appropriate context.
he backed off the cagey hints and clarified somewhat.
That didn’t actually clarify what he actually did. What is an “OD Officer”?
I did say “somewhat.” ![]()
What is an “OD Officer”?
Organizational Development Officer, apparently.
Sounds a bit adminny.
Are we sure that the Dr. doesn’t just spell odd with only one d?
has been somewhat more disciplined in the years since
Hey, he didn’t say it, he just didn’t contradict the other person who did. ![]()
What, as in HR? Why would he need to carry a gun?
I think he could carry a gun, not that he needed to. For example my exgf’s brother was a probation officer who was a sworn officer and had a badge. He was entitled to carry a concealed gun without the permit that a regular citizen would need. He didn’t though.
Probation officer, I can see, you’d work with criminals. HR guy concerned with rearranging org charts, not so much.
Until he changes the vacation policy or something.
Hah! ![]()
“Give me my days off or I’ll kill you!”
“Oh, I’ll give you days off… PERMANENTLY!”
…He reaches down slowly toward his weapon, then quickly whips out the pen he will use to write down the official complaint.
Now, I was a US Treasury officer for 20 years.

Hey, we had a completely useless employee that we’d been trying to fire for months. HR kept demanding more documentation. Then HR made him wait 20 minutes before handing him his paycheck or something, and he physically threatened them. Amazingly, they managed to process his firing that very day.
(And we kept the door to our department locked for a week. Dunno if HR took any similar precautions.)
“Treasury Officer” covers everything from forensic accountant to the night watchman at the mint…
And it apparently it has great powers over cinema managers :
Some long time ago, a customer lit up a cig during a movie. I went out to talk to the MGR, and he said “There’s nothong we can do”. I then showed him my ID, and then suddenly he discovered there was something he could do.
Sounds like his job title was Jedi.
Sounds like his job title was “Karen”
I feel for that unfortunate voluntold minimum wage movie theater employee having to deal with yet another entitled asshole complaining about other entitled assholes
