Dresses + Plus Size = Fugly?! UGH

Pretty much.

I call them the “1970’s Fort Lauderdale aged leathery matriarch that is trying to be hip” look.

I noticed the same thing this weekend, at Macy’s. Those things are fugly on everyone.

Hey, I love my batik muu-muu! It’s perfect for those extra-bloaty days of the month. Not that I would be caught dead in it by the viewing public - it never sees the light of day, but damn, it’s comfy.

I have a black one with big red flowers. I wear a red sweater over it and it looks like a long skirt. Well, sorta.

I’m a size 14/16 and usually end up spending big bucks on clothes at places like Talbot’s and Nordstrom (Ralph Lauren). I am a very conservative dresser (lots of black, navy, and grey tailored suits) and there are few stores that carry nice, tailored clothing for middle-aged professional women. Sometimes I can find designer suits at Filene’s for less than $200, but I usually spend a lot more so I can have clothes that are of quality cut and make.

I refuse to believe that there isn’t a larger (no pun intended) market out there for plus-size women who prefer dignified and flattering clothes; though many would consider a 14/16 to be obese, I’m moreso tall and solidly built – I can’t imagine the Hell that really large women must go through to find clothes.
