Drunk Mosquitos?

I was retelling a story last night about my grand parents 50th wedding anniversary.

We held it at a campsite and there were around 75-80 people that attended.

Our family likes to have a good time, so copious amounts of alcohol was consumed.

My question is, there were quite a few mosquitos flying around and biting us. Because of the elevated alcohol in our blood streams, would the mosquitos get drunk?

Can the even get drunk? Would they die from alcohol poisoning?

Thanks in advance

Boy, I sure hope they die of alcohol poisoning. But then, if they do, more of us are going to drink.

Many years ago, some friends of mine spent a weekend at a state park, consuming mass quantities of hallucinogens and alcohol. One of their amusements was to watch mosquitos land, take a blood meal, and tumble off onto the ground. I was not there (I had to work) and I can’t vouch for the story. They were, after all, hallucinating.

Beer is something like 6% alcohol, and you need to drink a fair amount of it (say, 2-3% of your body weight) to get much of a buzz on.

Given that 0.1% blood alcohol is legal impairment (in many areas) and 0.5% means passed out, blotto, your blood is pretty low proof.

I don’t know what percentage of their body weight they can imbibe, or how susceptible they are to alcohol. But I suspect they aren’t in much danger.
