We had the same thing happen right outside my work. We have a retention pond next to the building, and Mrs. Duck decided it would be a good idea to build her nest around one of the trees that stood forlornly in a concrete surround in the parking lot.
We called the Humane Society, seeing if they could relocate her, and they said to leave her be and not disturb her, and after the chicks were born she would lead them to water.
It was a nice little tourist attraction.
At last, my tax dollars spent on something I am actually in favor of!

Your tax dollars are going to be spent on Secret Service anyway. I hardly think that they will say, “A state visit from Putin, Kim Jong Il, and the new President of Iraq? Sorry, I have to guard the duck.”
Every year, there’s a duck that builds a nest in the bushes along side my dad’s house. It’s quite the event for the whole family at the get togethers to go out and see the duck and eventually her ducklings. (Of course, the fact that our last name is Drake probably has a lot to do with it as well.)
