Duke Nukem Forever... this is just weird.

Occasionally I visit a few game sites, and everyone makes a big joke about “Duke Nukem Forever”. Apparently it is a game which will never see the light of day. Apparently. Maybe these are just fanboy sites, or maybe the company producing it is content feeding programmers pork chops and apple sauce for four years.

So what’s the dope on Duke Nukem Forever? I can understand companies going out of business, but there seems to be a belief that this game might actually, someday be released.

So says the Planet Duke FAQ

I dunno, but I really enjoyed Duke. I find Wolfenstein a marginally acceptable substitute.

I do from time to time go to a Duke fansite that is the Official Site for the Duke Nukem Movie (really).

Questions are posed as who should play the lead character (I vote for Drew Carey myself) and who can come up with the best Duke line for the film.

Look out Oscar, here comes Duke.

I got a thousand Saudi Riyals that says this project will never see the light of day.

“eww, skanky outfit!”

I thought it was actually released but was just terrible.
Or was that DN3D?

Duke Nuken 3D: Atomic Edition was the last release.

I liked it a lot, but then again people say I am odd.

The only reason this sees the light of day is the millions dumped into the project so far.

But, much like Team Fortress 2, the game now is too far behind the times to be commercially viable. I imagine they will be trivia answers some day.

Trivia answers… Heck I still have it memorized.

Go behind crate, get magazine… go to corner, shoot gas tanks, reload, raise pistol go to shaft, face half right, drop down charge toward crate, kill monster, get first aid behind crate, jump on crate, jump on ledge, get RPG…

Who knew that when they named it “Duke Nukem Forever” what they really meant was this would be the amount of time it took to create it?

Where can I get Wolfenstein - with the same music as in the original version - that works with XP?

The orginal works fine with XP. I have it on my home machine and it runs beautifully

You simply have to tell XP to run in an earlier version emulation mode. Oh yes, and it helps to do a PIF file, especially if you plan on invoking God mode.
