.dv files have messed up audio in Final Cut...?

I’m using Final Cut Express HD and when I import a .dv file, I can double click on it and it plays fine in the little preview window, but if I drag it down into my timeline/sequence thingie, the audio just turns into this “boop…boop…boop…boop…” beeping sound. Anyone know what causes this, or how I can fix it?

I found the answer! You have to render the audio. I didn’t have to do that with other videos I imported. Weeeeird.

With the timeline active, select from the menu Sequence --> Settings… In the General tab, make sure that the Audio Settings match the audio that you’re importing. These settings not matching are why you sometimes need to render the audio (ie., maybe the sequence audio setting is for 48kHz, but the audio you’ve imported was recorded at 32, or something like that).

Oh cool. Thanks! (And wow, it takes forever to render audio! Like 15 minutes per 5 minute clip)
