Actually, you can get the Cat Came Back if you’re in the States…go here:

Amazon apparently has it on both DVD and VHS.

Zoobilee Zoo:

I really hated that show, bleah.
Dammit now I have “Pinwheel” stuck in my head.
::Shakes fist at Shapphire Bullet::
Sapphire Bullet, sorry about that.
While I’m here, I’ll expand on why I hate Zoobilee Zoo. It’s that ‘Cats’ style make up.
I was all set to say I didn’t remember a show based on The Little Prince, but I was beaten to it LONG ago.
My brother LOVED Inspector Gadget, but I was already too old for it when he got into it. Gotta love that eight-year age gap!
I don’t know what’s on Nickelodeon these days. I don’t much care, either.
wow…what nostalgia…
Nickelodeon is something that I grew out of reluctantly. I’ll never forget Zoobilee Zoo, Picture Page, The Little Prince, or The Mysterious Cities of Gold…even though I never watched any of them, I simply couldn’t stand the commercials.
Surprised no one has mentioned Mr. Wizard or You Can’t Do That on Television, my two favorites.
And, yes…I did also love Hey Dude
It’s a little wild and a little strange
When you make your home out on the range…
I simply can’t remember what made that show so special (argh…and i still remember that the ranch’s owner was named Mr. Ernst).
I was always more of a Salute Your Shorts and Welcome, Freshmen fan.
I only vaguely remember The Little Prince, but I certainly remember the ads for it.
Oh, my gods, someone else remembers The Letter People . . . squoosh box and all, I presume?
shudder
I actually kinda liked Zoobilee Zoo.
Do the words “Palabra jot” mean anything to anyone here?
Ugh, fuck Zoobalee Zoo.
I still get that theme song stuck in my head from time to time, and I didn’t even watch it! It was my little sister’s thing. Blech.
The reason I never liked the Chicken Lady sketch from Kids in the Hall was because she reminded me too much of the bird lady from Zoobilee Zoo. I just clicked on their website, and a shudder ran up and down my spine just at the site of the king lion guy with the nose, and the bird lady. I HATED that show. It was eeeeevil.
Alright! A discussion I can get on board with! I always watched Nickelodeon growing up, and even though I wasn’t born till '86, I still firmly believe * You Can’t Do That On Television* and David the Gnome will beat out Hey Arnold any day.
Coincidentally, **Nick at Nite** will always be best when showing * The Dick Van Dyke Show * instead of * The Partridge Family*. Although it's doing a better job now that it's gone for sitcom classics from the '80s, and is out of that weird period where it would show *The Brady Bunch* and *The Wonder Years* in one sitting.
And by coincidentally, of course, I meant incidently.
It's bad enough I kind of changed subjects, ya know?
Picture Pages, eh? Well I sent away for Mortimer Ichabod Marker. And he sucked.
I always wanted to get the marker, but I eventually figured out it probably didn’t make that cool noise when it moved IRL…
I had the Marker, and I think it actually did make that noise. When you could get it to work.
I loved Today’s Special, and my younger brother watched Zoobalee Zoo for a while.
But Mortimer Ichabod was my absolute favorite. It drove my mom nuts.
Was Out of Control the one with Dave Coulee, and that shrieking Liz woman? If not, anyone remember the name of it? That was great, too.
I wasn’t going to bring up You Can’t because it isn’t a cartoon, but if this is now a general Nickelodeon nostalgia thread, I LOVED that show. It hurts me to think there’s a couple of generations of kids who don’t know where the green slime thing came from.
You have it right, Morelin.
I would pay money to see Nick or TV Land re-run You Can’t Do That On Television!, which I think was one of the greatest shows on Nickelodeon.
Yeah, about the green slime thing: I understand that it was the penalty for uttering the phrase “I don’t know.” on some show or another. Was that the way it started out, or was it just a gratuitous and random bit of assault with a gooey weapon when it began?
http://ycdtotv.com …Fansite.
I liked the shorts. There was one in particular that I really liked called “Housecats”. It was about two housecats getting into mischief and such. I enjoyed the vintage sound effects used, and there was a great jazz score in the background, including a great vibraharp solo in the ending credits. Does anyone remember this, and know if this was a cover of a standard or something?
I’m pretty sure it started with You Can’t Do That On Television where the slime penalty was saying “I don’t know.” From there it became Nickelodeon’s trademark.
